David Cassidy, an iconic teen idol, has
been involved in some legal trouble in the recent past. He was charged with
driving under the influence and is also involved in ongoing divorce litigation,
as reported by sun-sentinel.com.
If you think your marriage is not going so well, you need a Miami, FL divorce lawyer. |
Thankfully for him, the legal
complications in his divorce finally came to an end last week. The former teen
idol is now officially divorced from Susan Shifrin-Cassidy. The couple was
married for 24 years. Broward Circuit Judge Tim Bailey entered the final
divorce order which was sealed from the public. Couples have the right to
request the court to seal their divorce record, say Miami, FL divorce lawyers.
The order was pursued by Cassidy’s wife
and an agreement was entered into over the proceeds gathered from the sale of
their home last year during fall.
The 7,000 square foot home is located at
1600 South Ocean Drive and was sold for $2 million. The terms of the agreement
were also sealed. The buyer was an oncologist from Maryland who probably wants
to move out of his high tax state for a lower tax state. Cassidy was forced to
sell after having
filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year.
It seems the big money coming in has
ended. This is why you want to save money when the going is good since the
going may not always be good.

Cassidy’s Traffic Violations and DUI
In September of 2015 when the divorce
was just about wrapping up and coming to a conclusion, Cassidy was arrested on
Interstate 595 after he sideswiped a delivery truck while weaving in and out of
traffic and driving in a reckless manner. He was charged with reckless driving
and leaving the scene of an accident where there was property damage.

He pleaded no contest in March and
served two years of probation for the crimes. Furthermore, his driver’s license
was suspended until the 2021 as he was already serving a DUI probation sentence
in California.
Cassidy shot to fame in his younger days
when he starred in a hugely popular TV series called “The Partridge Family”. He
is also well known for having sung a number one hit in the seventies called “I
Think I Love You”. Now he is known for DUIs and divorces.
Alimony Reform Consequences need to be Considered
Alimony reform has been debated in the
Florida Legislature for two years now say Florida divorce attorneys. The governor,
on both occasions, vetoed the bill. However, SB 668 is now effectively dead for
2016 as Gov. Scott vetoed the alimony bill, as reported by tampabay.com.
Illogical and misguided legal insiders
say that there is no official study which documents the effects of alimony
reform on fathers, mothers, and children but common sense and ignoring
political correctness tells you that fathers more often than not are hammered
in this process and their children are basically hung out for ransom by the law
and their ex-wives.
Does Gov. Scott have a backbone?
Liberals, who almost always side with
the wife, are of the opinion that the proponents of the reform are basing their
decisions on personal evidence and reactions to exceptional circumstances
rather than well-reasoned official analysis. They say that the reform should
not be enforced based purely on arbitrary formulas based on anecdotal evidence
but the evidence is not anecdotal, it has been in society’s face for decades
but political correctness has infected the brain of so many Americans they
cannot see the truth.
Gov. Scott apparently does not care for Florida fathers. |
