Police reports claim that a man who slammed his vehicle into a trooper’s
cruiser was arrested in Fairfax County. Trooper S.P Shook was conducting a
routine traffic stop just after 11:30 pm. His vehicle was parked near Exit 173
on Interstate 495 on a shoulder when 2016 Dodge Charger skidded off the lanes
and struck the parked cruiser.
Wtop.com reports that Shook was inside
the vehicle when it was hit but escaped unhurt. The lights of the cruiser were
activated at the time of the incident. Larry W. Menefee who drove the dodge was
also unhurt. He was charged with a DUI and taken to Adult Detention Center in
Fairfax County. According to Fairfax, VA DUI lawyers, first time DUI offenders
are liable to face a minimum of 5 days in jail, minimum of $250 in fines and
penalties, and suspension of their driver’s license for a year.

DUI Crash Causes Life-Threatening
Injuries
A driver suspected of a DUI was relocated to a hospital after he struck a
vehicle, overran a fence, and then crashed into a tree. Loudon County Sheriff’s
Office said that the driver was traveling south in a 2015 Nissan Rogue in
Leesburg on Route 15. Eyewitnesses reported that the Nissan was weaving through
the double yellow lines before the collision took place early evening.
As the driver was nearing Lime Kiln Road he hit a 2001 Toyota Tundra,
went off the highway, and landed on the shoulder. The car skidded further down
striking a fence and a hitting a tree in the process. The driver, Neeraj
Sharma, 37, sustained serious injuries and was removed to Inova Fairfax
Hospital. A report by patch.com indicates that he remains
hospitalized and was charged with a DUI. The driver of the Toyota was unhurt.
According to Virginia DUI attorneys, the state's DUI laws were amended in
2010 to include impoundment of the offender's car if he or she is convicted of a DUI and
continues to drive on a suspended license. Their vehicle will be impounded for a
minimum of 90 days.

Margaret Hobbs who is an officer with Virginia Beach Police Department of
Virginia for has pleaded guilty to a DUI in a federal court. She was sentenced
to home detention for 30 days and probation for 12 months. She will have to
remain in a correctional facility for two days.
According to sentencing guidelines, Fairfax, VA DUI lawyers say should
have received a sentence of 10 days of mandatory jail time. Wtkr.com reports that Hobbs has Type
1 diabetes and this is why she was given 3 days of home detention in lieu of each day in prison. Her license
was revoked and she was fined $750. She will also have to attend several
programs.
Her BAC was 0.23% when she was caught at Dam Neck after hitting a wall.
She had her children with her in the car. She was veteran at the Virginia Beach
Police Department having worked there for 17 years. Hobbs had been placed on
administrative duty following the incident.
