Physicians can Reduce
Prescription Costs
(Mecklenburg, North
Carolina) – March 21st, 2016 – Workers Compensation Research Institute in a recent study have
established that the North Carolina workers compensation system will benefit
significantly if state physicians start replicating the prescribing patterns of
doctors in Texas, as reported by businessinsurance.com.
WCRI, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, have asserted that North
Carolina (NC) is trying to figure out the impact of a closed formulary like the
one applied in Texas on its state workers. The studies conducted at this
institute are weighing the impact of such a formulary on the cost and
prevalence of drugs prescribed to state workers by authorized physicians, say workers’
compensation lawyers in Mecklenburg, NC.
As if Texas was not doing enough things right. Texas already has the best
economy in the country. Texas executes very bad people as well, they should
execute more though according to Americans who believe all violent rapists,
pedophiles, and murderers should be put down. White collar criminals, such as
those at Enron, should have faced much harsher penalties too.
If you have worker’s comp case you need legal help. Legal help can be

know politely that you know how to play this game too.
How big will the impact
be?
The studies have shown that if physicians adhere to closed formulary like
that of Texas the state can bring down the prescription costs to a big extent.
Now to do so the institute says physicians must start prescribing formulary
drugs more than non-formulary drugs and also by substituting formulary
medication with non-formulary medication. This will potentially cut down
prescription costs by 30% which they estimate would be around $8.7 million over
a span of three years, which can have a positive impact on workers
comp insurance costs.
Statistics shown by the institute prove that 23% of all prescriptions
have some form of non-formulary drugs and 39% of prescription costs in NC. WCRI
conducted a nationwide study that included 23 US states and found that
non-formulary drugs feature in 10% to 17% of all prescriptions and as a result
of which these drugs comprise 18% to 37% of the prescription costs.
If a closed formulary is adopted then the prescription cost will be
slashed by 14% to 29%. The WCRI have also shown that the pharmacy cost for
workers comp in California will reduced by $124 million dollars to $420 million
per year. California needs to do everything it can to save money since the
state is a financial basket case.
North Carolina Worker’s
Compensation Commission Weighs Down Heavily on Uninsured Insurers
The Worker’s Compensation Enforcement Commission of North Carolina has
imposed penalties on employers who have not adhered to workers compensation
laws by not providing their workers with proper insurance coverage. They will
have to pay civil fines to the tune of $1 million, say workers compensation
attorneys in North Carolina.
In addition to the fines about 100 employers were charged with
misdemeanor for not buying insurance intentionally. As per Mecklenburg, NC
workers compensation lawyers, according to the state law employers who employ 3
or more workers must provide insurance to the workers. Andrew Heath Chairman of
the commission had said that his office is trying to get compliance from the
employer before anyone gets hurt.
According to a report by News and Observer 30,000 employers in April 2012
in North Carolina did not have coverage. In 2013 an auditor found that the
commission did not intervene as a result of which 11,000 companies allowed
their insurance policies to lapse. It was only after the commission started
investigating 2,000 companies that 800 companies took notice and started
complying with the law. Insurancejournal.com states that in the last
year 71 workers have been injured while working for companies that did not
provide them with coverage.
If your
insurer refuses to honor your worker’s comp claim, it is time to weigh your
legal options an engage a worker’s compensation lawyer in North Carolina. If
your claim is legitimate you can sue the insurer in a ‘bad faith’ lawsuit with
the help of your legal representative to ensure that you receive the compensation
you rightfully deserve.
