Vacation Resorts International which
manages the Four Lauderdale Resort was sued by the Equal Employment
Opportunities Commission for allowing its manager to harass a female employee
sexually. According to the complaint filed by the former housekeeping
staff, the manager repeatedly asked her for sexual favors on a number of
occasions, indulged in vulgar exposures, and even molested her several times.
The management not only did not pay any
heed to the complaints, she was even thrown out of her job, as reported by sun-sentinel.com. These acts constitute
sexual harassment according to expert sexual harassment lawyers in Sarasota,
FL. This also constitutes immoral and depraved behavior in western culture. In
the Middle East, this would be acceptable but not in civilized countries.
The company in a statement said that
they have settled the lawsuit with the employee in a bid to avoid lengthy legal
procedures and costs. However, the company has not admitted any wrongdoing in
the agreement. The company management has said that they are committed to
eradicating sexual harassment in their offices and will conduct extensive anti-harassment
and retaliation training. Moreover the managers who were involved in the
harassment will be given one-on-one training.
It is amazing this manager still has a
job unless these allegations have not been proven at all.
Image of St. Lucie County Public Schools
Tarnished as number of Teacher-Student Sexual Intimacy Cases Come to Light
CBS12 has recently found that a number of
teachers employed by St Lucie County Public School have face charges due to
illicit affairs with underage students. The school conducts a series of checks
before employing teachers. The teachers undergo thorough drug tests, routine
background checks, and are made to answer questionnaires, take tests, and go
through other processes before they are considered for an appointment in a
classroom.
So why do these incidents plague this
particular school over and over again? In the last 2 years alone 6 teachers
from this school faces similar charges for sexual relationships. Perhaps they
should start looking at some of the students?
How are some of these students acting?
Music teacher Gary Burnette of St. Lucie
West Centennial High School was jailed with a bond of $600,000 when he told
police officers that he had sex for 5 seconds with a 15 year old, according to
sexual harassment attorneys in Florida closely following the case.
A Centennial High School Student Ayleen
Nijera said that since she was in the chorus she saw Burnette every day. She
said that since the school was already reeling from the Yepez incident and
another incident within a matter of days was scary.
Rafael Yepez was a math teacher who was
simultaneously having an affair with two underage girls. Students told the
reporters that they all could make out that Yepez was a flirt but they were
shocked when they heard Yepez had confessed to the police that he had month
long affairs of sexual nature with students. Police said that he held student
sleepovers at his place and he met fresh victims when he began coaching the
Mako Soccer club.
The name of Deron Bauer also came up. He
was arrested by the police while soliciting sex over the Internet to a minor.
Mr. Bauer was also a teacher in Centennial. In 2014 Cecilia Alvarez was
arrested for having a sexual relationship with a girl about 17 years old. In
February 2015 Lee Brian Jameel Walker was arrested for trying to rape a
student. He was a band teacher of Westwood High school. Once again, these are
glaring examples of harassment and abuse and sexual harassment lawyers in
Sarasota, FL are hearing about case after case germane to this.
The victim’s parents have filed a
lawsuit against the school district. The school district in a statement said
that they are looking into the matter and they cannot comment since the matter
is in the courts.
Some parents should be asking themselves
about their own daughters. They know what right and wrong is. Any teenager
knows the difference between right and wrong.
Sexual Harassment Lawyers are in High
Demand
Instances are not rare when the
management of certain schools have tried to cover up voices of dissent against
sexual harassment on campus. This has happened in a number of incidents where
the perpetrators were members of sports teams that represent the school. Often
times victims are forced to face unfair punishments such as transfers, suspension,
and even rustication. Therefore, if you are a victim of sexual harassment on
campus or at the workplace, make sure to seek help from a sexual harassment
lawyer in Florida.
