The sexual assault scandal that rocked Baylor
University over the last few weeks and led to the downfall of the university’s

As reported by dailydot.com, students of the university
are feeling threatened and have been warned that if they are victims of sexual
assault, their parents would be informed of their drug and alcohol use. This
according to Dumas, TX criminal defense lawyers could lead to sexual assault
victims remaining silent, which could set a bad precedent.

Reportedly, victims who came forward
were given a warning that their parents would be intimated. Drug and alcohol
use is strictly prohibited according to the school’s code of conduct. In 1996,
dancing was struck off the list of don’ts while other issues such as homosexual
acts, adultery, and fornication were only removed last year.
While the school claims to be committed
to working on ways to make it easy for students to be excused of drug and
alcohol use in cases of sexual violence, this comes as no reprieve to 8 former
students of the university who reported sexual assault in 2005. Texas criminal

While being a Baptist institution,
Baylor University does not permit premarital sex or alcohol use, and have
notified students that they could potentially be expelled for consuming drugs
or alcohol or any report of drunk driving. Two women who reported
sexual assault succumbed to pressure to accept the violation of alcohol codes.
One of the victims was ordered to do 25 hours of community service while the
university refrained from investigating her allegations of rape. The community
service part is fine but the latter point is disturbing.

trying to sell iPhone using app “Offer Up” shot and killed
A mobile application that has been
helping sellers and buyers meet and exchange goods/services for money all
across the country is now being scrutinized for safety after the recent death
of Daniel Ruiz, reports wfaa.com. The 20 year old victim, Ruiz, was attempting
to sell an iPhone using the Offer Up app when the suspect or suspects attempted
to rob him and ended up shooting him amidst the chaos.
The shooting is said to have occurred in
the 7900 block of Chariot Drive facing right opposite to Skyline High School.
Ruiz was rushed to Baylor medical center by responding emergency medical
technicians, but died shortly after he was admitted into the medical facility.
