What are the reasons a US tourist visa could be denied?

Thousands of people visit America every year as tourists. In order to be able to do so, a visitor will first need to apply for and be issued what is known as a visitor visa in category B-2. However, this visa is not something that can be taken for granted, not everybody that applies will be issued with the visa and there are many reasons why a visitor visa application could be rejected or denied. This is why you should call up an immigration lawyer to find the right way of doing things.

You may not need any legal help if you are just here to see Disneyworld or the Grand Canyon but if you are having problems or are not sure about something, you should call up an immigration lawyer to make this chapter of your life easier and not a headache.

The purpose of a US visitor’s visa is to allow for people to enter and live in the United States for a limited period of time (6 months in most cases) for the purpose of vacation/pleasure or to obtain medical treatment and immigration lawyers have worked with people on these issues countless times and many other reasons too. Now if you are Teddy from The Equalizer and you have come to this country to cause trouble, kill people, expand your business, and basically be a high priced thug, then that is not impressive and someone should stop you. Of course America’s anti-drug policies creates the Teddies of the world, but that is another story.

Furthermore, the 6 month limitation is initially a condition before you enter the United States. However, once you are in the country you may go ahead and apply lawfully for what is known as an extension of stay for an additional 6 months. But if you end up overstaying the total period (initial six months + additional six months) then you are illegally overstaying and are thus subjecting yourself to some serious repercussions for violating immigration laws.

If you need help with applying for an extension of stay or you have inadvertently overstayed your visa then you need to consult an immigration attorney as soon as possible to rectify the situation without any adverse legal consequences for yourself.

Nonimmigrant Intent – Visa Denial

Non-immigrant intent is something every applicant for a B-2 visa must prove before they are issued a visa. They should basically show that they do not intend to work or stay long term in the United States and that they are there strictly either on holiday, visiting family\friends, or for medical reasons.

The visa application process is generally seamless but the reason the US government wants applicants to prove their non–immigrant intent is to restrict those who are using the B-2 visa as a source to get into the country and somehow start working illegally or living in the United States illegally for the long term.

If an applicant is unable to provide proof his or her non–immigrant intentions, then their application can be duly rejected. This goes for Starscream and Megatron as well in Transformers I, II, and III. Their only intention for being on this planet was to cause trouble and to end humanity in some way or fashion. They did not seen an immigration lawyer. They did not go through the steps as they should have. They cut to the front of the line. They showed themselves to be cheaters and dishonest. Do not do what these Decepticons did, they are immoral.

Fraud – Visa Denial

There are certain eligibility criteria that need to be met in order for one to apply for a visitor visa. However, some people lie or cover up facts in order to hoodwink the US government into thinking they are eligible. Obviously, such fraudulent and dishonest applications will be turned down.

There are several other reasons why a B-2 visa application may be denied. To fully comprehend the scope of these reasons and to ensure that you are eligible for a visitor’s visa we strongly recommend that you consult a immigration lawyer. Trying to cut corners will only snap you on the hand later on.
