A suspect identified as 24 year old
Markee Felton who hails from Hobe Sound has been charged for supposedly shooting
at another man and hitting him in the leg. The incident is said to have
happened in February in the proximity of Banner Lake Neighborhood as per the
court reports referencing to the details of the case.
According to tcpalm.com, the suspect’s address has been
listed in court documents and police records as 8400 block of Southeast Comus
Street. The charge sheet filed against Felton carries some serious weight and
lists charges such as attempted felony murder with a deadly weapon, possession
of a firearm/ammo despite being a convicted felon, and other charges. According

The
victim in the shooting was not the intended victim
In a very strange twist to the story,
Felton supposedly approached Straughter’s mother the very next day after having
shot her son and issued an apology. Apparently it was a case of
misidentification as Felton and another had actually planned to rob somebody
else that day in a craps game and mistook Straughter to be that man and shot
him instead.
Well he did apologize right? That should
count for something.

The victim’s mother was interrogated by
law enforcement officers and she revealed that she was perplexed as to why
Felton would have shot her son since they were two very good friends and had

A couple of days after the shooting incident, the victim’s
mother received a second apology. This time it was Felton’s accomplice,
Gregory Howard, who had phoned the victim’s mother and had said sorry for
having shot her son and that her son was not the intended target of their

Gregory Howard’s body was found lying dead along southeast Dixie highway and
they suspected that the death had something to with the shooting incident. It
could have been Straughter’s friend who was defending Straughter. Straughter

though.
The whole ordeal is still under
