A Trafford man arrested for a wrong way
drunk driving crash will find it overwhelming difficult to disprove the claims
against him in court if he pleads contest. The suspected driver has been
identified by as 21 year old Jonathan Lukart, according to wtae.com.
Lukart was involved in an early morning
wrong way drunk driving crash on Route 130 not far from Pittsburgh which is
doing well since this state has legalized oil shale development unlike its
northern neighbor New York. Moreover, he is currently being held in custody as
he awaits trial in Westmoreland County.
According to reports, the charge sheet
against Lukart includes a rather serious aggravated assault by vehicle while
driving under the influence charge amongst others (two other charges). In the
opinion of Pittsburgh, PA drunk driving accident lawyers, aggravated assault in a DUI case is a serious charge
that can lead to extended years in prison and a felony record.
Prosecutors have had their work cut
short in this particular crash as the accident and the 60 seconds leading up to
it were recorded on a cell phone camera by a passenger in a car that was
following Lukart’s car.

Wrong
way crash captured on cell phone by witness
The video is chilling as the two
occupants of the trailing car (from within which the video is being recorded)
make comments about how the driver is clearly out of control and is going to
cause an accident. Furthermore, the driver of the following car goes even
further and sounds his horn continuously for a few seconds in order to grab
Lukart’s attention and may be somehow getting him to realize that he was
driving on the wrong side of the highway.
Pittsburgh, PA drunk driving attorneys
say that though the footage captured by people on their cell phones helped the
police catch the culprits. They chose to
endanger their own lives and others while driving.
The recording begins on Route 130 in the
proximity of S&T Bank, they pass by Pleasant Valley Road and continue
eastwards on Route 130 until finally the wrong way ride comes to an end in a
wreck just prior to Lucci’s restaurant.
The two witnesses that followed Lukart’s
car and recorded the accident as it unfolded were subjected to a substantial
amount of criticism on social media websites for not having phoned 911.
However, accident investigators, drunk driving accident legal representatives,
and law enforcement officers were not entirely sure if calling 911 would have
made any difference as the DUI crash occurred within just 60 seconds
from when the men noticed the wrong way driver.
Law enforcement officials attempted to
place a phone call to Lukart’s residence but were unable to reach anyone.
