28 Year Old Woman from Pittsburg Charged with DUI

After law enforcement officers responded to a car accident in Pittsburg, they had to arrest 28 year old Raelynn Nicole Thompson in connection with the accident for suspected drunken driving. The accident occurred at 3 am in which six children were injured, as reported by wkbn.com. Furthermore, law enforcement officers and accident investigators have also concluded that not a single child among the six injured children aged 6 to 13 had worn their seat belt.

Thompson is said to have crashed into the Interstate 376 exit ramp 3. Police reports also confirmed that this isn’t the first time Thompson has gotten in trouble with the law for driving under the influence. The 28 year old supposedly has two prior DUI convictions and was previously penalized for driving under a suspended license and resisting arrest.

Thankfully, none of the six children have sustained any serious life threatening injuries. Thompson is now in some serious trouble as prosecutors have charged her to the full extent of the law by pressing six counts of child endangerment against her apart from the DUI charge itself. A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled soon. Pittsburgh, PA DUI lawyers state that the presence of minors in the vehicle at the time of the DUI accident is likely to have Thompson face increased fines, longer jail term, and other penalties based on the level of blood alcohol content (BAC) found.

Court papers reflect that Thompson does not have a DUI legal representative to represent her.

She can though and so can you if you are in a legal predicament. Go right here: DUI.USAttorneysYou can call us too. We will help you find the legal talent and help that you need for your case.

28 Year Old Thompson Enters Trial in DUI Crash that Injured Six Children

Update to above news story – Thompson who faces six counts of child endangerment after having crashed her car while drunk and injuring six children aged 6-13 in the process has waived her right to a preliminary hearing and has opted instead to go straight into the trial. Her legal professional refrained from commenting about the strategy behind skipping a preliminary hearing, as reported by CBS.

A responding law enforcement officer testified that Thompson smelt of alcohol, had slurred speech, and red eyes when he interrogated her after the crash. She also failed the field sobriety test that was administered on her.

Thompson is also a repeat offender and has been guilty of drunken driving in the past not just once but twice. In the opinion of DUI lawyers in Western Pennsylvania, the latest being Thompson's third DUI, she is likely to have her driver's license suspended for 18 months, and face 1 to 5 years in prison in addition to $1,500 to $10,000 in fines.

She is certainly going to lose her children as well. She is obviously not a suitable parent.

The Implied Consent Law in Pennsylvania

The constitution in America protects us all from unlawful searches and seizures, therefore, law enforcement officers can only search your person or your property (car, home) with either your permission or a search warrant.

However, Pennsylvania is, like many other states, an implied consent state and Pittsburgh, PA DUI lawyers know all about that. Under the implied consent law, individuals who are issued a driver’s license are also required to give permission to sobriety testing prior to being issued the license. Thus, if you deny or refuse to undergo a sobriety test in an implied consent state, your driver’s license may be automatically suspended immediately.
