Deputies of the Ascension County Sherriff’s office responded to call
regarding a domestic violence incident at Countryview Trailer Park located in
4700 block of La 22. When the deputies closed in they noticed a woman leaving
the area in a car with an infant who was not properly secured. Maj Ward Webb of
the sheriff’s office said in a press release that the woman Katherine
Summerfield was pursued by the officers and stopped.
She admitted that she had consumed alcohol and a chemical test later
revealed that her blood alcohol level was four times more than the legit limit
which according to Louisiana DUI lawyers is .08% just like in other states.
As reported by The
Advocate,
she was taken to Ascension Parish Jail on Tuesday morning where she was charged
with DUI and failure to secure an infant. What was she thinking?!
According to Allison Hudson, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office she
was just released a day earlier after a DUI incident. It was on Saturday that
she was found sleeping in a car with the engine running with the infant. A
concerned neighbor removed the infant and called the police. This was her third
DUI which also
carried a child endangerment charge. She was later released on bail. What is wrong with
this woman? This is almost as bad as not knowing if certain information was
classified and using your personal computer for government business while you
are Secretary of State!
The sheriff office said she is a habitual offender and was arrested
earlier in February this year and in July last year for similar charges. More
charges are also likely to be added according to Hudson. Evidently she wants
her child to be raised by the system and she wants to go jail.
If you are not like this person and you have been giving a DUI ticket,
you need legal help. You do not want to pay any more penalties than you have
to. You do not want to be cheated by the system and the system has been known
to do this. This is not Cuba which does not care about human dignity but
America is not perfect either. Go right here DUI-USAttorneys.com to find yourself
that legal help you require.
Man Arrested in Hit and Run Case that Injured 5
Earl Guy 31, lost control of his Polaris ATV and struck five adults
injuring them at the intersection of Lizardi Street and St Clause Avenue in New
Orleans. The police are trying to figure out how the accident happened and have
arrested the man, according to a nola.com report.
According to police reports Guy tried to flee the scene but was quickly
apprehended. He is being subjected chemical tests to see if he was intoxicated.
The injuries suffered by the victims are non-life threatening. He was taken for
DUI testing. Louisiana DUI attorneys believe he may face additional penalties
for attempting to flee the scene of the accident. ATVs are lots of fun but not
when you do things like that!
Regular Checkpoints and ‘No Refusal’ Checkpoints
There is practically no difference between regular checkpoints and no
refusal checkpoints, says a report by theadvertiser.com. In spite of the name
assigned to the latter drivers can refuse a breath analyzer test. Basically
sobriety checkpoints are imposed on certain roads and drivers are asked to take
a breathalyzer test. Drivers can refuse to submit to sobriety tests but
Louisiana DUI lawyers issue a word of warning here.
Drivers are at risk of losing their license for a year because they
automatically give their consent to such tests when they receive their driver’s
license. In addition, if the officer believes that the driver is intoxicated
he/she will ask a judge to issue a warrant to search the vehicle. This means
barring the name the procedures are the same for both types of check
points.
DUI violations can lead to serious consequences so if you find yourself
arrested or charged with driving under the influence, what you need is help from
a DUI lawyer in Louisiana. A DUI conviction can lead to various forms of
punishment including jail, license suspension, fines, and much more. For the
most part, the evidence against you may be either circumstantial or
inadmissible and what you need is a capable legal professional to point that
out to the jury, court, and/or the DA.
But if your name is Katherine Summerfield you may want to just go to jail
so perhaps obtaining any legal help and just relying on a public defender is
the way to go. How do you make that many mistakes with a child?
