Columbia Business School Sued over Sexual Harassment Violations by Assistant Professor

Enrichetta Ravina who holds the post of assistant professor of finance at this prestigious Business School has filed a Title IX lawsuit against the institution. In the lawsuit she has brought formal charges against Professor Geert Bekaert for sexual harassment and gender discrimination.

In an interview given to a newspaper she claimed that Bekaert who was her research mentor started discussing pornography, made sexual advances, and began talking about his sex life with her. According to usatoday.com the professor threatened her with retaliation when she objected. This according to sexual harassment lawyers is a case of quid pro quo harassment.

Not smart professor! What are you thinking Columbia Business School!?

She was specifically told that he would deny her access to vital data that is required for her research. When she complained to the university administration the charges were belittled and dismissed. She told the press that one dean even called the incident a ‘soap opera’. The university in November 2014 declared in a statement that it will comply with all the anti-discriminatory rules of Title IX but strangely did not find the incident in violation of its policies.

What?

Bekaert has told the Times in an email that the allegations against him are not true. He further says that he was not Ravina’s superior or supervisor and that she was just a colleague. He also said that Ravina has manufactured the lies in a bid to destroy his reputation.

A spokesperson of the university have emailed USA TODAY saying that the all allegations of sexual harassment is treated seriously by the university but the university will not make any further comments since the matter involves pending litigation.

Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Filed Against Wyoming Military Department by the Feds

The Wyoming Military Department was sued by the Justice Department for failing to protect a female employee who had alleged sexual harassment by a superior in a formal complaint. This is the same Justice Department still has not targeted Hillary with treason over her password betrayal, confidential information mess, server crimes, American secret felonies, and so on. This is the same Justice Department who did not convict Lois Lerner with using the IRS as her own mechanism to target political enemies.

The Justice Department has no credibility.

Moreover, the lawsuit filed in the District Court of Wyoming alleges that the female worker regularly faced sexual harassment from her boss Don Smith who was the former director of the Youth Challenge Program conducted by the Wyoming Military Department.

The program situated at Camp Guernsey provides a 22-week long residential course to at-risk youths who are kept under military styled discipline, given skills training and values.

The lawsuit says that the harassment began back in 2010 when the woman received several emails detailing expressions of affection from Smith including certain poems and unwanted details about his personal life. The lawsuit also claims that the employee even faced workspace invasion.

Trib.com reports that the woman rejected the advances categorically. She had also tried to establish certain workplace rules. For instance, she asked Smith to confine their discussions to workplace issues only and she conversed with him in presence of a third party only, which is the right thing to do say sexual harassment lawyers. But these measures did not deter him from prophesying his love every now and then. When she complained to the department, no corrective measures were taken.

If you face persistent sexual harassment or discrimination at work or college, it would be prudent to reach out to a sexual harassment lawyer. Your legal professional will be able to educate you on steps that can be taken to prevent the humiliation and the legal measures you can take against the company or public organization for failing to protect you.
