Another California Prison Bites the Dust in a Health Review

Patients Records Missing

(Fresno, California) – March 11th, 2016 – As the state of California struggles to gain some traction on health care and treatment (and about everything else) after over ten years of it being the responsibility of the federal government, yet another prison was assigned a failure grade by California’s inspector general making it the fourth prison to fail the review recently much to the dismay of hospital neglect and medical malpractice lawyers in Fresno, CA.

Not all hospitals are the same. If you have a medical malpractice claim and need legal help, go right here: Medical-Malpractice.USAttorneys. Some of the best medical malpractice lawyers in Fresno, CA and beyond are located on this site. Even prisons have Internet! Certainly the mismanaged prisons in California can get that right, we hope!

Patient records, important medical equipment, and medication missing!

As reported by kqed.org, the prison that did not farewell in this review has been identified as Valley State Prison in Chowchilla. The review system grades prison healthcare standards using fourteen benchmark indicators and Valley State Prison in Chowchilla failed to meet passing grades in 9 out of the 14 indicators used by the inspector. The findings of the review were far from encouraging and it transpired that the prison was failing to achieve even simple tasks such as not misplacing the medical records of its inmates.

California is a failed state all around – just look at its economy, high taxes, and ridiculous ideas (high speed rail?!)!

Perplexingly, some essential supplies and equipment were not even stocked in many of the observation or examination rooms. An organization simply cannot provide reasonable healthcare when their equipment, medicine, and patient records are all missing said the inspector that conducted the review and California medical malpractice attorneys definitely agreed with him on that.

The report that was completed post the inspection further revealed the full scope of the problems that existed with the healthcare at the Valley State Prison of Chowchilla. Issues included but were not limited to – failure to provide follow up care to patients after initial consultation, constantly postponed appointments, incompetent nurses that failed to carry out the orders given to them by the doctor, etc.

In one shocking case, a prisoner who had low blood sodium levels suffered a seizure that required life support systems and was transferred to intensive care. He was untreated for his condition for three weeks prior to being inflicted with the seizure – a real shame!

Valley State Prison is a medium security prison which hosts close to 3,400 prisoners and is located approximately forty miles to the northwest of Fresno.

Bill Proposed to Mandate that Doctors Disclose their Probation Status to their Patients

After a surgery involving patient Tina Manasian went south, legislators have now come up with a bill, which if passed will make it mandatory for doctors to tell their patients if they are under probation, according to kcra.com. In the case of Manasian, the doctor who performed the surgery on her was under probation with the Medical Board of California and Manasian had no clue. According to Fresno, CA medical malpractice lawyers it is the patient’s right to be informed of a doctor’s probation and the victim has every right to claim compensation for malpractice or negligence.

Manasian stated that the doctor who botched up her surgery was a chronic alcoholic and she would have never let him operate on her had she known he was under the scanner by the Medical Board. Alcoholism is disgusting.

If you or a loved one is a victim of medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, or hospital neglect, you have certain legal options you may pursue in order to receive compensatory damages. The wise thing to do if you have suffered due to malpractice or hospital neglect, is to call a medical malpractice lawyer in California and set up a free preliminary consultation as soon as possible.
