Plano Police Involved in High Speed Chase to Apprehend DUI Suspect

David Tilley spokesman for Plano police said the officers spotted a BMW just after midnight cutting through traffic at high speeds on the North Central Expressway but when they asked the driver to stop the suspect decided to ignore the officer resulting in a deadly chase.

Not smart!

The driver, 31 year old Bryan James Overree, fled towards the west through Carrollton on to Bush Turnpike and went into Far North Dallas. The Plano officer however gave up the chase fearing the safety of other commuters as the suspect hit 115mph during the pursuit. He was later caught at Kelly Boulevard near Carrollton Park Apartments.

Overree smashed his vehicle into a gate when he missed a curve shortly after exiting the highway. He faces a DUI charge, evading arrest using a motor vehicle, reckless driving and driving with an invalid license, which according to Dallas, TX DUI lawyers and one of the best in the area is The Law Office of John L. Corn P.C. can attract severe penalties and punishments that include jail time, fines to the tune of thousands of dollars, license suspension up to 1 year, and more. Apart from criminal charges following the DUI arrest, he can also be liable for property damage in a civil lawsuit.

Overree has just made his life much more complicated. You thought Tony Romo feels bad about throwing all those pick sixes. Overree makes Romo feel like Peyton Manning.

Dallas PDs lackluster DUI handling angers some residents but not all

The executive director of North Texas Mothers against Drunk Driving, Jason Derscheid, said that DUI cases tended to rise during Super Bowl Sunday events. He said that in 2014 43 deaths in DUI related incidents happened in a single night alone. MADD was not happy when Dallas PD informed that they would deploy only three dedicated DUI elements to man the streets during the present Super Bowl Sunday event in spite of the fact the department assured that the each district will have adequate patrol officers to conduct field sobriety tests.

The Dallas Police Association also reflected the apprehensions of the residents to a fantastic extent when their president Ron Pinkston said that there had been a steady decline in DUI arrests and of late the number of arrests has come down by a whopping 54%. This does not mean people are not indulging in DWI, Mr. Pinkston said it is simply because there are less officers to enforce DUIs.

Most DUI attorneys in north central Texas, and if you want the best you should turn to The Law Office of John L. Corn P.C., agree that just 3 specialist DWI officers for a city as large as Dallas on Super Bowl night is gravely inadequate but any police officer can write someone a DUI ticket. A legal expert and former prosecutor was of the opinion that that general patrol officers do not handle DWI cases regularly and hence they are not qualified enough. He asserted that it was much like a general surgeon performing heart surgery. The Dallas PD said that they will have 18 officers to handle DWIs starting next week.

Not everyone in Dallas is outraged since it is not that hard to spot a DUI driver.
