The couple filed for divorce after 24 years of marriage and separated in 2011 Sonya claims he isn’t really broke and has unnecessarily made 3 of their children pawns in their divorce battle. This is actually quite common and it is amazing parents are able to get away with it.

Earlier, there were reports that the children wrote letters to the judge stating that they wanted to live with their father since the mother was allegedly a drug addict. However, the latest documents filed by Sonya state that Master P used the kids to mislead the court since he was miffed at the court’s order asking him to pay up what he owed her. So who is using the kids now? She wants to make money off of them too!

Sonya also claimed that he made a selfish decision to involve the children, which was not in their best interest. This is something which courts look at very closely, point out divorce attorneys who can be reached by pressing right here Divorce.USAttorneys.com.

Some people look at this child as a child, others look at this child as money to be made.
Sonya also questioned his claim of only earning $2,441 per month and alleged that Master P’s net worth was a cool $350 million in the last 5 years and also pointed out that he owned a Rolls Royce. Incidentally, Master P has been ordered to pay $271 per month as child support, which is the minimum amount according to law but it is still enough for food and if he buys them their clothes, this seems about right according some people.

Divorce Remains a Legal Nightmare for some Same-Sex Couples

The solution is simple according to some: do not get married in the first place.

Several LGBTQ couples who seek to divorce in states that previously did not recognize same-sex marriages claim they are embroiled in a legal mess, as reported by NBC News. Some divorce lawyers claim that some couples who are separated from their partners are fighting for legal rights to children while some have discovered they are still married.

One such case involves 43 year old Chris Strickland, a Mississippi lesbian who claims she had no clue her marriage would end or that the children involved could be kept away from her. She is now in divorce court fighting for custody rights over the boys.

Divorce lawyers explain that Strickland’s case is a complicated one. She married Kimberly Day in 1999 but is now caught in a bitter divorce battle involving two children. Strickland and her partner decided to adopt a child two years prior to getting married. At that time, Mississippi law did not recognize same-sex marriages or such couples to adopt children.

Therefore, Day adopted a 6 year old boy on her own, and is listed as the only parent in the adoption papers. This is why Strickland now finds herself at the receiving end with no legal rights, even though she claims the boy to be her son too.

Meanwhile, the laws for straight couples wishing to divorce are relatively straightforward as they should be since many people believe a child should be raised by a mother (female) and a father (male) for all sorts of rational reasons. Therefore, if you have a problem with alimony, child support, or any other related issues, just make sure to consult a competent divorce lawyer for the best possible solution.
