Adding to the list of celebrity couples
reportedly heading for splitsville is singer and composer Jermaine Jackson.
According to nydailynews.com, following domestic trouble
last year, Jackson’s wife of 12 years, Halima Rashid, has filed for
divorce. The petition lists their separation date as Nov. 28th,
2015, which is when she was arrested for domestic violence.
Court papers cite irreconcilable
differences as the reason for the termination of their marriage, which
according to Rochester, NY divorce lawyers is common with most couples who seek
to split on amicable grounds. She allegedly bit 61 year old Jackson’s leg,
which prompted him to call the police. She may have watched The Walking Dead a
little too much.
In a Thanksgiving weekend tiff, he is
also alleged to have spat on Rashid. They obviously should not be around each
other – this is a combustible relationship.
Rochester, NY divorce lawyers and most other people believe when you spit and bite your spouse, that is not going to work out for either party in the end. |
Rashid was let off the hook following
the domestic violence incident in which she faced charges of felony corporal
injury due to lack of evidence. As reported by TMZ, she spent only 5 hours in jail and was
released on a $50,000 bond. Despite this, Jackson went on to profess his love
for Rashid and they were seen together once again. Many people believe this is
not a stellar idea.
38 year old Rashid and Jackson married
in 2004 at a Los Angeles mosque, which was the latter’s third marriage. There
are no children involved while Rashid is said to be seeking alimony. Rochester,
NY divorce attorneys will be involved with this too.
Some people believe if you have been
married already twice and that did not work out, perhaps you are not made out
to be married.

Linda. The couple decided to call it quits after 57 years of marriage. As
reported by pagesix.com, this is likely to be battle
worth a few billion dollars which includes an exclusive art collection of works
by Mark Rothko, Franz Kline, and Gerhard Richter.
There is allegedly a new woman in
Harry’s life, Patricia Landeau, who is currently the president of the French

New
York Divorce Fundamentals
New York divorce attorneys point out
that the state recognizes both fault and no-fault divorces. The latter became
admissible post August 2010 when a ‘no-fault divorce’ bill was signed into law.
Couples can now cite irreconcilable differences without any chances of
reconciliation to request a divorce.
One of the spouses must, under oath,
state that the marriage has broken down for at least six months. In addition,
the couple will have to prove that they have amicably settled issues such as
alimony, child support and custody, and property division.
Rochester, NY divorce lawyers also
explain that divorcing spouses may seek a divorce based on fault grounds such
as physical or mental abuse, abandonment, adultery, and incarceration for at
least 3 years after the marriage, to name a few. The filing spouse will need to
provide evidence of the same.
Filing
for divorce can be as complex as sorting out issues of alimony and child
support. If you find yourself in such a situation, all you need is
to reach out to a New York divorce lawyer to protect your rights.
