The state of Arizona especially
increases its efforts during holidays such as the 4th of July to nab
drunken drivers when they know there are going to by many drunken drivers and
that the roads will be very unsafe indeed.
However, this year onwards, state police
are going to not only increase DUI checkpoints, but will also increase the
amount of evidence that they collect from DUI suspects, as reported by kjzz.org.
The push to collect more evidence has
come from DUI lawyers in Queen Creek, AZ, and there is none better in this
realm than Zachary Law Group, P.L.C. (www.zacharylawgroup.com/)
and this law firm proves it every day, and all across the state, proving to
juries and judges in the past that just a breathalyzer machine result cannot be
conclusive evidence of impairment via alcohol.
This is because breathalyzer machines
actually measure breath alcohol levels and not blood alcohol levels.
Furthermore, these machines need to be carefully pre-calibrated prior to use
and this does not always happen, which often leads to drivers being wrongfully charged with a DUI.
As a result, if the only evidence that
exists against a suspect in a DUI case is a breathalyzer result, then the
defendant and his or her DUI attorney in Arizona, and there is none better in
the Valley of the Sun than the Zachary Law Group, P.L.C. since this law firm’s track
record is impressive, may be able to beat
the DUI case by arguing the mentioned short comings of the
breathalyzer machine.
This is why law enforcement officers have amended their
procedures to subject suspects to further sobriety testing such as blood samples,
field sobriety tests, and so on.
Two
Men Taken into Custody for Shooting DUI Suspect
Law enforcement officers have arrested
two in connection with the shooting of a suspected DUI driver on State Route 87
near mile post 278, according to a kcsg.com report. The suspected drunk driver
has been identified as 31 year old Jesse G. Olsson.
The suspects have been identified as 38
year old Shane A. Tebo and 28 year old Brandom M. Vongthongthip who both
originate from Phoenix, Arizona. The men were northbound on State Route 87 when
they observed a driver behind them swerving from one side to the other.
This is when they allege they called 911
and reported the possible drunk driver. However, the drunk driver then drove off
the roadway and into a ditch. Tebo then drove his car and parked it in such a
way so as to obstruct the drunk driver’s car from being able to get back onto
the road. DUI lawyers in Queen Creek, AZ like this move – they do wish the 911
call though was more definitive.
DUI lawyers in Queen Creek, AZ sometimes have difficult cases to contemplate. But the Zachary Law Group, P.L.C. can handle it. |
Both men were carrying Glock weapons.
Tebo then got out and walked towards the suspected drunk driver and seized the
keys of his vehicle from him but was unable to reach out as the gap between the
vehicles was too small. The drunk driver then tried to drive away and this is
when Tebo fired several shots into both the engine and the driver and caught
the driver in the chest once.
They should have just shot the tires or
called 911 and followed this drunk driver.
