A three car crash that occurred over the
weekend on Highway 49 has resulted in as many as eight people being hospitalized
according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The
accident occurred during the afternoon time just a mile or so north of the
crossing between Combie Road and Highway 49, as reported by sacbee.com.
Two of the eight injuries are said to be
of a serious injuries and those two victims were flown by a helicopter
ambulance to a nearby hospital. The other six were also injured but the
injuries were thankfully not life threatening and hence they did not have to be
flown to a nearby hospital.
The vehicles involved in the crash were
two SUVs and a mini bus. According to Sacramento, CA accident lawyers, any
video footage and the police report will play a vital role in establishing
liability and any compensation claim for the accident. Though
the statements made by the drivers will be helpful too.
If the seriously injured victims recover
they will be able to offer some fantastic insight on what happened on the road
to cause that accident as well.
Private
Transportation Network Company Lyft to Face Lawsuit in Accident
The family of a victim that lost his
life in an accident while travelling as a passenger in a car being driven by a
Lyft driver are preparing to file a lawsuit against the ridesharing company,
according to kcra.com.
The victim has been identified as 24
year old Shane Holland. He died in the accident which occurred back in November
2014 on the westwards lanes on Interstate 80 in North Sacramento.
Shane and his friend Brady Lawrence had
made plans to go to a Halloween party and booked the Lyft vehicle and driver to
be their designated driver. It had been raining that day and the roads were
slippery wet. The Lyft driver noticed a stalled vehicle at the last second and
tried to steer clear quickly but ended up ploughing into a couple of trees.
Shane died on the spot, and the Lyft driver and Lawrence were hospitalized and
treated for their injuries.
Lawrence was in a serious condition and
was in the ICU for a prolonged period. He was hospitalized for a period of one
year and lost about $100,000 in lost wages and medical bills.
Some people are wondering if Sacramento,
CA accident attorneys are trying to find out more about this stalled driver.
Now the California Highway Patrol or CHP has said the Lyft driver is at fault
but the story does not say if this stalled driver had their lights on or not.
Why would you put your life in the hands of an unknown Lyft driver though?
The
Driver of the Stalled Vehicle should possibly be Held Responsible
Lyft drivers are not necessarily spectacular
drivers – everyone should know this. Did the stalled vehicle have their lights on?
If they did not, the Lyft driver should not really be at fault and neither
should the company. The driver of the stalled vehicle should be held
accountable.
Sacramento, CA accident lawyers are wondering why would you put that much faith in a driver you do not know? |
Shane Holland’s family filed a wrongful
death lawsuit against the company and Lawrence has filed a personal injury
claim against Lyft too, which is the appropriate action to take in such
situations according to Sacramento, CA accident lawyers.
Did the stalled vehicle have its lights on? |
Lyft has refrained from providing an
interview but did provide a statement saying their insurance company will
respond to the lawsuits. If the stalled car driver did not have their lights and/or
hazard lights on, it is their fault this happened.
Just because you think someone is at
fault does not mean they are at fault. It could be someone else who is at
fault. You need a legal counselor. Press right here Accident.USAttorneys.com to make that
