Roofing Company Owner Faces Charge for Failing to Pay Workers Compensation to Employees

The owner has been identified in the lawsuit as David Taylor who was placed under arrest in Broward County earlier last week on suspicion of committing fraud. He faces fraud related charges since one of his franchises failed to make workers compensation payments to its employees, as reported by sun-sentinel.com.

According to workers compensation lawyers, Taylor’s arrest was preceded by the Division of Insurance Fraud learning the news that Taylor’s company had attained a million dollar roofing contract in Miami-Dade condo and had beaten two alleged ghost companies that were also in the chase.

Taylor is free at the moment after he posted a $1,000 bail amount. The 50 year old was arrested and processed at the Central Broward Jail in Fort Lauderdale as per public record papers. Now he has lost everything and that contract is being ripped up right in front of him.

His company is known as Taylor Contracting and Roofing Inc. and apart from the owner being charged with fraud, the company itself has also be fined an amount of $279,538 for not paying workers compensation payments to five of their employees as per the Miami Herald.

Roofing Company Continued Work despite Stop Work Order

According to public records that were analyzed by workers compensation attorneys who have been assigned the case, the Florida Department of Financial Affairs had actually issued what is known as a stop work order against Taylor’s Contracting and Roofing Inc. in 2014 February in order to investigate claims that the company had refused to pay deserving employees legitimate workers compensation payments. The company was instructed to stop all work until the fine was paid. Eventually, the state of Florida put a lien on the company for the owed amount.

However, Taylor’s company violated the stop work order and relentlessly continued work at the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox church in Fort Lauderdale. As per bank statements that were pulled for the investigation, the Church had paid Taylor’s Contracting and Roofing Inc. an amount of $208,842 for repair work that was done on the roof of the Church which does not exercise anti-American rhetoric like Reverend Wright in Chicago.

The division of Insurance Fraud in 2015 was notified by complainants that the company had violated the stop work order, however, by this time – Taylor had already founded another company called D&T General Contracting, Inc. which had acquired a $5.2 million contract to fix roofs of as many as 12 buildings in The Beach Club condominiums at Fontainebleau Park.

David Taylor has it all figured it out doesn’t he!
