California Assistant Basketball Coach fired by Coach Cuonzo Martin

According to usatoday.com reports Yann Hufnagel was sacked by Cuonzo Martin because he violated California’s sexual harassment laws. The emails sent by USA Today to the team spokesperson failed to elicit a response. However, reports by the San Francisco Chronicle suggest Hufnagel was under investigation for as long as 10 months.

If you are the President and a Democrat you can get away with this type of stuff but if you are anyone else, you are probably going to get slammed.

Martin terminated the employment after he received the investigation report from the Office of Prevention of Harassment. He had joined with Martin’s team just two years back. Immediate action following a complaint is what every employer must consider, says sexual harassment lawyers.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations Land FIU Women’s Basketball Coach in Deep Trouble

Destini Feagin, who likes to be in front the camera as seen by all the pictures of her online, who is also the basketball team captain of Florida International University (FIU) has claimed she is involved in a sexual relationship with Marlin Chinn who is the head coach of first year players, according to a Miamiherald.com report.

Feagin revealed to The Herald that she has complained to the FIU’s athletics administration body and also reported Chinn to the NCAA. She claims she may have also violated certain NCAA rules when she accepted $600 as a loan from Chinn. Many people that it is does not really make too much sense for a straight man to be coaching college female athletes. There is just too many issues that could crop up.

Statement from the University

The university in a statement said that the allegations were under investigation by FIU and that coach Chinn has been suspended. The statement also said that since the investigation is ongoing the university is not in position to comment further. Sexual harassment lawyers are soaking up the details of this case.

When Chinn was called by a Herald’s reporter, the coach did not comment on the allegations citing FIU policy. When Pete Garcia FIU athletic director was contacted, he too refused to give any comments stating that comments on any investigation must come from FIU. The sports department of FIU held a meeting to deliberate on the present sexual harassment crisis and on student-player relationships. Chinn was absent but all the other assistant coaches attended the mandatory meeting.

Feagin and her mother, Joi Nicholson, said that the complaint against Chinn was made to Julie Berg who serves as Senior Athletic Associate Director and to the FIU Director of Equal Opportunity Programs and Diversity Shirlyon McWhorter. After Feagin reported the incident, she was not allowed to participate in the annual Senior Night ceremony which is traditionally attended by seniors, which depending on certain circumstances may be deemed as retaliation by the employer say sexual harassment attorneys.

Chinn in some earlier messages to Herald had said that Feagin did not participate in the Saturday’s games as she violated a team policy and that her return was ‘to be determined’.  Later however Feagin explained that the violation that Chinn was referring to happened when she borrowed one of her teammates Panther Bucks cards to get some food as her own card was maxed out. She said she bought $350 worth of purchases which her mother then paid back.

According to mother-daughter duo Chinn barred her for four games which comprised the rest of the season. They believe this was in retaliation for resisting his sexual advances. Wow! Strange.
