Woman Arrested for Crashing into the School Van in a DUI Incident

According to Philadelphia PD a woman was arrested when she crashed her car into a school bus on Route 611 injuring two students and the driver. She was intoxicated and was therefore charged with a DUI, as reported by CBS. The lady was also found in possession of marijuana.

52 year old Janet Porreca was arrested after the incident and she will appear at the hearing scheduled for March 1st. This is probably not going to be the best day of her life.

The good news is that the driver and the students only sustained minor injuries. However, the police have asserted that Porreca had twice as much alcohol in blood than the state limit, which is .08% according to Philadelphia, PA DUI lawyers. Anyone found with a BAC of .16% or more is at the highest of the three BAC levels as per state law.

Philadelphia, PA DUI attorneys caution that this could lead to adverse consequences for the DUI offender who can lose their license for months and even face months or years of jail time.

Veteran Police Officer Faces DUI Charge

Meanwhile, philly.com reports that while driving back from a benefit for a wounded colleague, off duty officer Natalie Crone crashed into a police cruiser. She was arrested for drunk driving. Crone serves the Eight Police District of Philadelphia as a community relations officer. Other than a DUI, she was charged with reckless endangerment and assault. Soon she will not have a job and she will not have to worry about attending any wounded colleague functions. Now there is going to be a wounded colleague function for the police officer she hurt!

Her vehicle hit a parked cruiser just after midnight on Algon Avenue and the officer was rushed to a hospital to treat a back injury due to the accident.

Perhaps we need driver less cars faster than we thought. People keep being irresponsible. Technology is needed to save human lives. Will driver less cars put Philadelphia, PA DUI lawyers out of work?
Set Up a Date for another Wounded Colleague Function

Crone had worked in the department for 21 years and on that fateful night was present at a fundraiser event for Officer Jesse Harnet who was injured when a gunman ambushed his patrol car last month. Commissioner of Police Richard Ross said that Crone would face disciplinary action.

She had already been placed on restricted duty and has been ordered to surrender her weapon. The commissioner also asserted that he will be able to comment further on the matter once he gets a formal notification of the charges from the district attorney’s office. However, it was not clear if Crone has engaged a Philadelphia, PA DUI lawyer.

The Police Union’s President John Mc Nesby says that even though he was aware of the arrest, he had not yet received details of the case. He further explained that a few police officers get arrested for drunk driving every year. First time offenders are subjected to Accelerated Rehabilitative Deposition or ARDs. Furthermore, they face demotion and are assigned civilian duties until the time they fulfill the ARD regulations. However, this case is different because ARDs are not applied to cases which involve injury or assault.

Drug Induced Impairment – A Major Cause of Accidents in Philadelphia

Like alcohol impairment drugs too cause a large number of accidents every year. According to a report by dailyitem.com, the Governors Highway Safety Association has blamed the states for the problem. This is because many states have increased the limit of marijuana use for medical and recreational use, which has resulted in a steady increase in DUIs. But how much drug violence has it reduced?

How many people are not in prison now who are not a threat to the community? Only misguided governors are saying things like this.

Alcohol Damages America far more than Marijuana

In a statement Stephen Erni, the executive director of the Pennsylvania DUI Association said that they were not opposed to marijuana use for patients who are severely ill and who are in no position to handle a vehicle anyway. But there must be greater restriction on the use of such drugs as they often fall in the hands of wrong people. Erni – the biggest drunk dealers in America are Coors and Budweiser. Alcohol causes far more pain and suffering than marijuana ever will and does. Erni, you are way off here.
