Medford resident 84 year old Bob Smith,
who served as congressman in Oregon’s 2nd district, was driving
northbound in his 2015 Acura MDX on King Street when he took a left turn and
hit 58 year old Jerry Mark Hughes, a pedestrian who was also from Medford. The
impact killed him on spot. Hughes was walking southward at the intersection
between Stewart Avenue and King Street when the former congressman’s vehicle
hit him, as reported by mailtribune.com.
Smith waited at the scene for the police
and is cooperating with the crash investigators. Medford PD said that he was
not intoxicated when the accident occurred which could make his Marion, OR
accident lawyer’s job easier. There is not a better law firm in this area of
the country than Miller & Wagner as well. You pay nothing up front and they
are not paid until you are paid.
Lt. Mike Budreau said that crash
investigators are trying to figure out whether the signal had the ‘Walk’
indicator when Hughes was crossing the road and whether Smith turned when the
signal displayed the green arrow. In addition, investigators are also trying to
determine whether Hughes was running or just walking at the time of the crash.
Budreau also asserted they were talking
to eye witnesses to ascertain exactly what the signal showed at the time of the
crash. However, he said the might never be able to conclusively tell what
lights were on in the signal. According to Marion, OR accident lawyers and the
best in this area of law in this part of Oregon is Miller & Wagner based on
their track record and long list of satisfied clients, a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit
is most common in these types of auto accidents where a pedestrian or someone

Tragic
Accident Takes Life of Woman on Oregon 217
According to an oregonlive.com news report, emergency
services responded early morning to calls reporting a fatal car crash near I-5
on Oregon 217. Tigard PD confirmed that a Lake Oswego woman was killed when
she was struck by a car. It was discovered later that she was
wearing ear phones at the time of the accident and officers are trying to
determine if this distraction is the reason behind the crash. It certainly does
not help!
Crash investigators told media that she
was a pedestrian trying to cross the road where there was no crosswalk signal
and the area was dark. Spokesperson Jim Wolf said that Tigard will investigate
the crash. Sgt. Bob Ray from sheriff’s office later clarified that the Crash
Analysis Reconstruction Team will assist the department.
Northwest Oregon accident attorneys know
that in a pedestrian accident case the victim can claim damages for medical
expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and loss of enjoyment of
life. But if she voluntarily took away one of her senses that could weigh in on
the situation.
