Aurora DUI Results in DUI Charges against Woman Driver

Streator resident, 27 year old Stephanie Figueroa, was slapped with a charge of reckless homicide when she crashed her Volkswagen Jetta into a house located on North Farnsworth Avenue killing her passenger 33 year old Obed Cruz Hernandez. The impact caused the passenger to be ejected from the vehicle killing him instantly.

It was reported later that she even tried to flee from the scene but was caught by the officers who witnessed the accident. Initially Aurora police only ticketed her on two misdemeanor violations but she was released later when she posted bond, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

She killed someone and was able to post bond? What? Well, this is how things are done in liberal areas.

However, later in the week Kane county prosecutors changed the charges to aggravated assault and reckless homicide. She was subsequently arrested from her home on Feb. 12 but she paid a bond of $4,000 following which she was released pending trial in March, which is a regular pattern in such cases as drunk driving accident lawyers are all too familiar with.

This is not the first time Figueroa was involved in a crash. In 2012 she was arrested while driving with a BAC of .169 when the legal limit was just .08, which attracts enhanced punishment say drunk driving accident attorneys. She crashed her Isuzu Trooper in Galena Boulevard and soon after the incident her license was suspended. At that time she failed field sobriety tests and gave the police officers an incorrect date of birth.

She must love to pay fines and be written up. She must love to a part of the system. She must love wasting her money. Figueroa is all over the map on this!

Even after she pleaded guilty for DUI the case against her did not close due to allegations that she violated court supervision. However, later a court ordered her to pay the fines which will allow them to close the case and subsequently it was closed. In 2012 she was also charged with marijuana and cocaine possession and received probation for the crime.

Apart from criminal charges, drunk driving accident attorneys say that a driver can also be held liable and made to pay compensation to the victims following a DUI accident. Stephanie Figueroa knows all about this.

Drunk Driver to Pay $75K Bail for DUI Charge

25 year old Kyle L. Hagberg of South Barrington was arrested by Elgin police when he collided with another vehicle on Route 20 near Highland Woods Boulevard at 8 am injuring the driver seriously. The police said he was driving in an intoxicated state.

Luckily doctors say that even though injuries that the driver suffered are serious, they are not fatal. Kane County’s Sheriff’s Office reported that the driver was charged with 8 counts of violation and will have to pay bail of $75K if he does not wish to remain in jail for the time being, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

DUI charges carry significant penalties which include incarceration and fines. Therefore, it is vital to consult a drunk driving accident lawyer if you are involved in an accident and face DUI charges or conviction. DUI cases often rest on irrefutable testimonials of law enforcement officers and the description of demeanor in the police reports. Your legal counselor can help negotiate with prosecutor for a lesser punishment or have the case dismissed depending on the circumstances surrounding your case.
