Son of Ex-Carlyle Hotel Owner Requests Late Parents’ Divorce Files be Unsealed

Ian Peck, the son of Norman Peck, the previous owner of the family Carlyle Hotel, is reportedly looking for a larger share of his father’s fortune and has sued to unseal his parents’ divorce file.

Some people are all about the money. Some things need to be worked out when people are alive.
Some sons are just greedy! Were they not the taught the 10 Commandments? Money is not everything. Why not earn your own fortune?

Both parents are dead, according to nypost.com. According to White Plains, NY divorce lawyers, most records are typically sealed for 100 years. However, Ian Peck is seeks an exception to unseal the papers of his parent’s 1976 divorce case, Norman Peck vs. Joan Peck.

Norman Peck is said to have sold Carlyle Hotel for $130 million while his son, Ian, is now looking for a larger chunk of his father’s $41 million. Norman married a second time to 77 year old Liliane, who is now entitled to the largest portion of her late husband’s estate, as made out in his will.

His money and property is distributed to Liliane and Dominique Peck-Meyer – the daughter from their marriage, and Ian Peck. At stake are an Upper East Side apartment worth around $3 million in addition to $9 million in cash and securities and a real estate business worth around $29 million. The exact payouts are not detailed in court documents.

Norman Peck has also left an unspecified amount to The New York Community Trust and had gifted the Brooklyn Academy of Music $20 million in 2004. Meanwhile, Liliane’s attorney made it clear that his client did not have any objection to the request. The presiding judge will decide whether the divorce record can be unsealed.
