It was not a very well-kept secret that
Chris Rock and Malaak Compton's marriage was on the rocks, but sources have
confirmed that the divorce has now finally concluded. According to people.com, the former couple finalized
their divorce earlier last week on Monday when they appeared in front of a New
Jersey judge.
The couple had previously announced in
2014 that their 20 year old marriage was coming to an end, but two years later,
only now have they been able to finalize their complicated divorce case.
The reason it took so long to wrap up the
divorce and legally dissolve their marriage is because the couple were not able
to find middle ground when it came to certain terms of their divorce settlement
such as child support, say divorce lawyers. Rock and Compton were unable to
come to an agreement on whether or not Chris Rock should pay child support for
a child which the couple had raised as their own for several years.
In the initial divorce filing made by
Rock's divorce attorney, Rock and Compton had two children only. However,
Compton then appealed this filing by claiming that there was a third child who
had resided with the couple since before her very first birthday. Compton said
the couple had raised the child together as parents. However, Compton had
decided to proceed with the adoption process by herself once the couple decided
to go ahead with a divorce.
So does Chris Rock have to pay for the
adopted child or not? We really cannot tell because the case was sealed from
public access and therefore, all details of the case including child support
were not disclosed. It does seem like they are acting like grown ups about it (pun intended) though.
It is obvious that Compton is trying to
extract more money from Chris Rock though. You have to be honest, children are
used by parents, mainly the ex-wife, to extract more money from the former
father and in this case, this is not even their real child. But at least Chris
Rock is not politically correct or as politically correct as many other
celebrities are (he just got into a little trouble for some probably poignant
anti-gay comments). Most celebrities live in a Harry Potter fantasy world.
If you need a divorce lawyer, you should use USAttorneys.com. This website is not as funny, or funny at all, as Chris Rock but it is every bit of real and this website saves lives. |
Hopefully Chris Rock does not make any
more Grown Up movies – both were subpar and not worth seeing even if Salma
Hayek was in them. Divorce attorneys would rather watch The Other Guys or
Horrible Bosses any day of the week.
Study
Says these Months are When Divorce Rates Peak
A new study courtesy of University of
Washington has published some actual numbers which go to show that divorce
rates actually spike up during the same exact two months of the year, year
after year, as reported by CNN.
Two parents could easily disagree on the status of an adopted baby. |
According to researchers, the number of
divorce filings in the state of Washington between 2001 and 2015 were plotted
onto graphs and interestingly enough, during the months of March and August,
there almost always seems to be two very specific unmistakable peaks.
Experienced divorce lawyers who were shown this data were not really that
surprised, as they have experienced this in practice too, but they said that
the numbers certainly put things into perspective.
