Surgery Goes Horribly Wrong as Doctor Removes the Wrong Rib

It is second nature for many people to lie to get themselves out of trouble or to cover up a mistake, and as long as they are not under oath, it isn’t illegal (even though it is very morally questionable). However, when doctors lie to cover up a mistake, it can seriously jeopardize their patient’s medical condition and future treatment. This is exactly what transpired in the case of a Dr. Ricardo Quarrie, say hospital neglect and medical malpractice lawyers.

According to medicaldaily.com, the plaintiff in the case has been identified as 60 year old Deborah Craven who hails from Milford in Connecticut. Craven and her medical malpractice attorney have now filed a civil suit against Dr. Ricardo Quarrie who not only botched up the surgery by operating on and removing the wrong rib bone but then spun a tale of lies to try and cover up the fact that he had made a horrible mistake.

One lie just leads to another. Unimpressive!

This is why this site Medical-Malpractice.USAttorneys was fabricated. This nonsense needs to stop. Give us a call if you want, we will probably call you back that same day. Doctors may heal the sick but so do we.

Doctor that Removed Wrong Body Part Lied to Cover Up Horrendous Mistake

Deborah Craven went in for the surgery after it was determined that the pain she was experiencing would be alleviated if a certain rib was surgically removed from her body. Unfortunately, even after the surgery, Craven continued to experience the sharp pain. An x-ray was performed and it shockingly revealed that not only was the incorrect rib removed but, the metal coils that were used during the surgery were also left inside of her body and she was stitched back up.

The follow up surgery was scheduled and was performed by another doctor who wasn’t part of the first surgery. At this point, in an effort to protect himself from potential litigation, Dr. Quarrie lied to Craven and said that the follow up surgery was being performed not because the wrong rib was removed but instead because not enough of the rib was removed in the initial surgery.

The plaintiff’s medical malpractice lawyer has in fact made a statement where he said that his client would have never initiated a medical malpractice lawsuit had it not been for Dr. Quarrie lying to cover up his glaringly obvious mistake. The real question is, should Dr. Quarrie be tossed into prison for about 15 years for these actions?

The healthcare organization that Craven was admitted into, Yale New Haven Hospital, acknowledged that a mistake was made and they reported this to the Connecticut Department of Public Health almost right away. While this may not be a case of hospital neglect or nursing home abuse, it is undoubtedly a strong case for malpractice while the victim has the right to claim compensation for this malpractice.

Dr. Quarrie does not make  this patients smile.
Indiana Legislators Decide to Increase Caps in Medical Malpractice Lawsuits

As reported by indystar.com, after nearly two decades, the cap for total damages awarded in a medical malpractice lawsuit in Indiana is going to be raised thanks to legislators unanimously coming together and voting to do so.

Currently, the maximum a winning medical malpractice plaintiff can receive is $1.25 million which is probably the lowest in the entire nation but could possible hurt Indiana since Indiana already has a shortage of doctors. The increase was voted in a 49-0 vote where not a single legislator voted against the raise. What Indiana and the country needs is more doctors but why go into medicine with the prospect of being sued or waiting for Medicaid to reimburse you which takes months? For sure, if you make a mistake like Dr. Quarrie did you should not even be in medicine.

If you are a victim of medical malpractice or hospital neglect, you ought to be aware that you are entitled to receive money as compensatory damages. However, you will need to speak with a medical malpractice lawyer today and get started with your lawsuit.
