Disciplinary Action Taken against NY Assemblywoman Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

Angela Wozniak must think she is a Democrat. Or perhaps it is a New York politician thing. Anthony Weiner and so on.

New York assemblywoman Angela Wozniak has been the latest casualty of a sexual harassment allegation. It was alleged that she had harassed a top staffer sexually with whom she earlier had an affair. She was made to face certain disciplinary action and was prohibited from hiring interns.

Among other disciplinary measures taken against her, Wozniak had received a letter of admonition stating that she had clearly violated assembly rules on workplace sexual harassment. She will have to complete a training program on harassment prevention, as reported by DecaturDaily.com. Perhaps she needs to find another job!

Strangely her predecessor, Democrat Dennis Gabryszak, resigned after he faced similar allegations. Well he is Democrat, that goes with the territory to mistreat woman and view them as sexual objects according to many people. Wozniak was elected in 2014 to represent Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga following his resignation.

According to the investigation conducted by the Assembly Ethics Committee Wozniak, 29, became involved with the director of legislation in a consensual sexual affair. She however ended the relationship when her husband came to learn about the affair. The investigation revealed that she took retaliatory steps against her erstwhile lover in a bid to tarnish his reputation after he lodged a complaint.

The committee blamed Wozniak for exercising poor judgment when she decided to get sexually involved with a staffer. According to reports, the office is trying to find the staffer a new job and he will continue to receive compensation from Wozniak’s office for 11 months. Wozniak and her sexual harassment lawyer were not available for comment on the scandal.

New York Corrections Department Sued for Sexual Abuse by Six Women Prisoners

The Department of Corrections of the State of New York is facing a class action lawsuit filed by female prisoners for subjecting them to sexual abuse by corrections staff. In the lawsuit the prisoners claimed that they are regularly molested by male officers. The lawsuit also asserted that there is a prevalence of a ‘Culture of Indifference’ in the department, according to an rt.com report.

You know this is going to happen. Why are men even working with female prisoners? This is just a recipe for disaster. Perhaps men can be snipers at a female prison but that is about it!

Veronica Vela who is the staff attorney for The Legal Aid Society’s Prisoner’s Rights Project said that sexual abuse committed by the staff members is serious problems in women’s prisons across New York (you mean across the world – well not in Arab countries, they just stone woman to death there).

According to sexual harassment attorneys, three all-women’s prisons, namely Albion, Bedford Hills, and Taconic have been named in the lawsuit for allowing various types of harassment and abuse to continue in their facilities.

What do these woman prisoners want? Money? Unless something terrible happened, no one should be enriched while being in prison.

In the lawsuit filed on behalf of the plaintiffs by the Legal Aid Society and the Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, several women allege they were repeatedly forced to have sexual intercourse and oral sex, in addition to other types of abuse such as kissing, touching, etc. They also allege that their complaints went unnoticed and no investigation was ordered. Sexual harassment lawyers know these are serious allegations that must be immediately investigated but what do you expect when you have an arrangement like this?

There seems to be a shortage of common sense in America these days.

The complainants also revealed that the officers supplied them with narcotics and were responsible for spreading sexually transmitted diseases. The DOCCS commissioner has received a written complaint and has started an investigation. The defendants include Commissioner of Department of Corrections Anthony Annucci, Chief of Investigation Steven Maher, and other high placed officials of the department of corrections that chose to put male correction officers near female prisoners.

There is a chance that these allegations are false and these female prisoners are looking for some type of payout. This situation would not have occurred if the correction officers were female.

If you face any type of sexual harassment or discrimination at your workplace, school, or college, make sure to pick up the phone and communicate with a sexual harassment lawyer without further delay. Any form of harassment is illegal under federal and state laws. The sooner you call the less you will suffer at the hands of your harasser.

But you do not want to be in prison. Your ability to fight back against what is wrong is curtailed. But even prisoners have rights. And the Internet is available in prisons too. You can also have a friend or a family member use this marvelous and cutting edge website (Sexual-Harassment-USAttorneys) as well to help find you the legal assistance you need if you are in prison or not. Regardless, no American should have to tolerate this. If you are not in prison you have even more clout and your ability to fight back is much greater in scope and magnitude. You are an American. This is not Egypt!
