Macon Teenager Charged with Vehicular Homicide for Causing Fatal Accident Last December

More light has been shed on the fatal drunk driving accident that resulted in the death of a Macon teenager on Dec. 22nd, 2015. As reported by 13wmaz.com, 20 year old Mary Elizabeth Wade has now turned herself in and has been arrested for the accident in which her car rolled onto 18 year old Murray Nixon.

Sheriff of Bibb County, David Davis clarified why Wade wasn’t arrested on the same night of the accident since she was suspected on driving drunk. The unfortunate accident occurred as Wade drove her 2009 BMW 325i out of the parking lot at 621 Foster Road in the odd hours of the morning on Dec. 22nd.

The vehicle allegedly got stuck in the mud after Wade lost control and struck a tree. Nixon, who was a passenger in the vehicle, stepped behind the vehicle to help. Unfortunately, the car rolled back since the car was in neutral and crushed Nixon. Drunk driving accident lawyers in Gwinnett County, GA agree that these kinds of cases make it very difficult for a jury to reach a verdict.

The car would have to be in neutral for Nixon to be able to push the car. Why did he even have to push the vehicle at all? It did not seem to be stuck if it freed itself. Nixon getting out the car seemed to be all the car needed to free itself.

Following her arrest, a Bibb County grand jury finally indicted Wade on three counts of first degree vehicular homicide, two counts of driving under the influence, and reckless driving.

The indictment stated that Wade’s blood alcohol content or BAC was .02% or more. However, Sheriff Davis claimed that her BAC was .12% following a blood test after the accident, which is well above the legal limit of .08% in the state, according to Georgia drunk driving accident attorneys.

There were several open alcohol containers found on the ground just outside the vehicle. Legal experts explain that apart from an accident insurance claim, the victim’s estate in such cases may have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit depending on various factors but Murray Nixon still chose to drive with a drunken driver.

Even if you are impressed with someone else, you have to make smart decisions. Murray Nixon is not the first man to make a bad decision while trying to impress a female.

University of North Georgia Student Faces Drunk Driving and Additional Charges

20 year old Christopher Neil Maloney, a student at the University of North Georgia, has been charged with a DUI, fleeing the scent of an accident, in addition to other charges. As reported by onlineathens.com, the charges stem from an accident in which Maloney’s car struck two vehicles parked on Prince Avenue.

The drunk driver failed to stop, which was confirmed by witnesses who in turn informed law enforcement of the car accident. Police finally found the defendant at a parking lot on Jefferson road in the process of changing a tire on his damaged vehicle.

Gwinnett County, GA drunk driving accident lawyers point out that it is essential for any driver to remain at the scene of an accident and inform the police immediately. Failing to do so only adds to the penalties and punishments due to a hit and run charge.

Since Georgia has zero tolerance for underage drivers, Maloney also faces additional charges for underage consumption of alcohol. He was also charged with failing to maintain lane and possession of a false South Carolina driver’s license.
