Circuit Court Judge Upholds Bobby McDonnell’s DUI Conviction

A Circuit Court judge recently upheld a DUI conviction of the son, Robert “Bobby” McDonnell, of former Gov. Bob McDonnell. As reported by pilotonline.com the defendant was fined $250 and was given a suspended six-month jail sentence by Judge Pamela Baskervill. After two years the sentence may be dismissed on grounds of fantastic or good behavior which Leesburg, Virginia DUI lawyers know is not too hard to achieve.

If you cannot say no to alcohol,  Loudon County, DUI lawyers believe you should then say no to driving.
24 year old Bobby McDonnell has also had is license revoked for a year since he refused to consent to a breath test and has been ordered to complete an alcohol safety program. Loudon County, VA DUI lawyers say that the judge’s sentence was the standard for first time DUI convictions.

The former Virginia governor’s son was found guilty of DUI last November in General District Court. He was pulled over and arrested in December of 2014 in Virginia Beach after a police officer observed his Jeep swerve several times and failed to stop at a red light.

Barney Frank did things much worse than Gov. Bob McDonnell ever did but that is another story. On that note, so did Lois Lerner. If your parents are in trouble, you probably do not want to get a DUI.
On investigating, the office observed that his eyes were bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and that he failed the field sobriety test. He also refused to submit to a breath test, which DUI attorneys in Leesburg, Virginia say automatically leads to suspension of the defendant’s driving license for one year in accordance with the state’s implied consent law.

McDonnell’s DUI defense lawyer, who is also state Senate Majority Leader Tommy Norment, argued that his client had consumed prescription anti-anxiety medication at the time of his arrest. He also argued that his client was wearing contacts and had been in a hot tub, which was why his eyes appeared glassy. However, his legal professional maintained that his client not be given any special treatment due to his status and last name.
