It is wrong to be judged solely based on
the amount of melanin in your skin, but the sad reality is that it happens very
often. Human beings naturally profile. Some people believe it is evil but it is
actually based on survival. Human beings would not have made it this far in the
evolution of life if they do not profile. In fact, if profiling was not
treating so heinously, the attacks on 9-11, the Boston Bombing, and many others
would have probably been prevent. Yes, political correctness has so much blood
on its hands it cannot be quantified.
But this does not mean you should start
treating everyone rudely or show terror in your eyes when you look at someone
who has a certain skin color. Now if someone looks like Mike Tyson who even
made himself look even more intimidating with a tattoo on his face, that is something
else entirely.
An incident involving the highly revered
American scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. has certainly caused a nationwide
upheaval. In the incident, the well-respected professor, who also happens to be
African American, had just returned back home from a foreign excursion in
China. His front door was jammed so he asked his driver to help him open the
front door. A neighbor saw this and believed a burglary was about to take
place. The police were called.
Immature
behavior by the professor
They were quick to get on their feet to
go investigate the matter (which many people swear they only did because the
person in question happened to be a black man). The professor identified
himself and you would imagine that that was the end of it. But the police say
the professor was not cooperative and treated the police with disdain and
disrespect.
So the police proceeded to arrest the
professor and frequent television commentator when he denied their accusations
that he was breaking into the house and was probably a burglar of some sort. Yes,
the same could happen to anyone who could be pulled over as a DUI
suspect. If Henry Louis Gates Jr. acted properly, this would not
have happened. Why Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s neighbors do not know who he is is
another question entirely. This incident also showed President Obama’s true
colors early on when he called the police stupid when it was really both party’s
faults but mainly Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. who chose to be
confrontational.
Obama later ate his words on the matter
when he realized the professor did not act that poetically. They all met at The
White House and it was called the “beer summit”. It really was a waste of time
and should have never came to this. America has deteriorated ever since. It was
also a harbinger of things to come, America being divided which according to
the Democrats was not supposed to happen under Obama but it has to a
frightening degree. Criminal defense lawyers have noticed America being more
split on certain issues too.
Some people believe the professor can go
back to China with that attitude since America has enough animosity, we do not
need any more. Just because the police are looking at you does not mean they
are racist. The police were actually protecting his home and doing their job. His
neighbor is the one who made the phone call! America has had enough of people
mistreating the police and criminal defense attorneys have seen many cases in
this regard of all stripes.
Now police who beat Rodney King, every
one of them should have been fired and charged with assault and the use of
excessive force which is what happened. They should have been convicted but
perhaps some of the jurors did not want to actually send these former officers
to prison since that could have been the death penalty for them. King was not a
wonderful citizen. Firing, no pension, community service would have been
enough.
What
to do if you are racially profiled?
The ugly truth is that the risk that you
may be racially profiled whether you have committed a crime or not is real. So
what can you do if you are a victim of racial profiling? The good news is that
you have some legal options which you may undertake in order to set things
right. You can also file suit and seek monetary compensation for damages for
the way you have been profiled and treated.
Racially profiling can happen anywhere.
For example, a white person can be racially profiled by the police in South
Korea. This does not just happen in America.
Moreover, the best course of action for
anyone who may have undergone such an unpleasant experience is to consult an
expert criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible and get started working on a
lawsuit if this profiling has taken something from you.
You can file a civil rights lawsuit
under the provision of the law, against the officer or the police department or
even the municipality in question for their conduct and for violating your
civil rights. By the letter of the law, law enforcement officers are not to
treat people differently based on their ethnicity or race. Now if you are
actively committing a crime or about to and it is obvious you are about to,
this is another matter entirely.
Talk
to a criminal defense lawyer today
Knowing that you were racially profiled
is one thing, but being able to prove that you were indeed a victim
of racial profiling in a court of law in front of a judge or jury is
a whole new ordeal which is very challenging and requires serious ground work
and evidentiary support to be successful.
A legal pro will know several ways in
which to prove your claims. Therefore, do yourself a favor and call up a
criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible. You can do that by using this
marvelous digital tool: Criminal-Defense.USAttorneys.com. The Internet has
made this a much more even playing field. This is why socialist and corrupt
governments restrict the use of their citizens using the Internet in Saudi
Arabia, Cuba, Russia, and so on. If you need legal help, click on the link
