A DUI suspect evaded law enforcement
officers that were pursuing him after he got out of the car and fled on foot
following a car chase. As reported by patch.com, police confirm that the car that
the suspect was operating was a stolen vehicle.
Stealing cars is wrong. So is drinking and driving. |
The police chase started on Highway 87
and culminated at a dead end in San Jose in the early hours of the morning
earlier this week. DUI lawyers in San Jose, CA point out that fleeing the scene
can only make it harder to defend the DUI charge.
The whole thing started when law
enforcement officers attempted to pull over the suspect he refused to stop. The
suspect did not respond whatsoever to the emergency lights and continued to
drive in a northerly direction on Highway 87 according to the police report
which has been filed in connection to the case.
The officers followed the suspect just
as he took the exit off of Highway 87 to Skyport Drive, which is located just a
few miles east of Mineta San Jose International Airport. He turned right onto
Technology Drive but reached a dead end and then got out of the vehicle and ran
away on foot.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter
was even involved in searching for the suspect on rooftops and other places,
but the efforts were in vain. An eye witness described the suspect as a white
man in his 30s who was wearing a gray sweatshirt and shorts.

Drunk Driver Who Caused Fatal Accident on
I-680 already had Prior DUI Conviction
A woman who was taken into custody on
suspicion of drunken driving in a fatal car accident on the I-680 that led to
the death of a three year old boy was previously convicted for drinking and
driving while having her own child as a passenger in the car, according to an NBC report. This could only add to the
penalties and punishments, caution DUI attorneys in California.
The suspect has been identified as
Yarenit Malihan and she is the wife of an Alameda County sheriff’s deputy. Wow!
And she does not seem to care about children! The victim in the case has been
identified as 3 year old Elijah Dunn. The car accident is reported to have
occurred on the Interstate 680 in the proximity of Bollinger Canyon Road.
The auto accident led to several
injuries to multiple occupants of the car. In her previous arrest, law
enforcement officers had actually gone to Malihan's residence after someone
called in saying she appeared to be intoxicated and was about to get behind the
wheel.
Yarenit Malihan does not care about
society it seems. Why does she choose to drink and drive?
The police also observed signs of intoxication
and it was determined that she had been driving under the influence while
having her ten year old daughter in the vehicle with her, which is what led to
the child endangerment charge, say San Jose, CA DUI lawyers.
