An Alexandria woman who has been
convicted of her third DUI in only three years is finally going to be put away
behind bars, at least for a while, as reported by patch.com. She will have to serve a three
year prison term for her crimes. Alexandria, VA DUI lawyers saw this coming.
The convict in question has been
identified as Jasmine Vanderplas who is better known as Jasmine Thundershield.
The 35 year old had two prior DUI convictions but was on the road and behind
the wheel of a car while under the influence of alcohol. Apart from the prison
sentence, she has also been fined $1,500. You thought the IRS charged a lot!
The woman was stopped in April when she
was spotted making an illegal U turn at the intersection of Duke and Walker
streets. Law enforcement officers signaled her to stop, but she did not pull
over right away and that is what raised even more suspicion because of which
law enforcement officers subjected her to sobriety tests.
Evidently she did not fare very well in
any of the tests administered and refused to be subjected to a breathalyzer
test. Not smart! Refusal to submit to tests can lead to automatic suspension of
the defendant’s driving license for one year, caution Alexandria, VA DUI
lawyers.

Drunk Driver Flees Scene after Hitting Two Other Vehicles
An alleged drunk driver has been slapped
with hit and run and DUI charges following a car accident in which he crashed
his car into two vehicles in Sterling earlier this week, reports patch.com.
It is just better to drink water if you do not have a designated driver. |
The car accident occurred at Harry Byrd
Hwy/Cascades Pkwy in Sterling in the afternoon. The driver who caused the auto
accident fled the scene even before deputies from Loudon County Sheriff’s
Office could arrive, say witnesses. Leading DUI attorneys in Virginia point out
that it is mandatory for motorists to stop following an accident and report the
matter to the police.
The driver has been identified as 64
year old Kermit K. Warner who hails from Waldorf, Maryland.
Warner was later apprehended and is now
in custody at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond. Kermit K.
Warner must like not having money since he just cost himself a bunch of it.
If you or someone you know has been
arrested or charged with driving under the influence,
then it is vital that you get in touch with a Virginia DUI lawyer as soon as
possible. If convicted, the legal repercussions can be very tough to endure.
This could include hefty fines and lengthy prison terms. A DUI charge is often
beatable. All you need is to get started on your defense strategy right away.
