Pennsylvania Crash: Tesla Denies Man’s Claims that Car was on Autopilot Mode when it Crashed

According to official statements released by Tesla, logs obtained from the car of 77 year old Albert Scaglione indicate that the autopilot disengaged itself 25 seconds prior to when the car crashed since the driver did not have his hands on the wheel, as reported by CNN.

Titusville, PA accident lawyers know this issue with humans and autonomous cars is just getting started.
Titusville, PA accident lawyers, who can be found by using this website Accident.USAttorneys.com, believe this is something that can be proved and it appears Tesla has and can prove it.

Tesla CEO Defends Company on Twitter

The CEO of the company tweeted earlier this week saying that the autopilot was off during the crash and that the accident would never have occurred had it been on. Tesla went a step further in disproving the claims of the driver and had a company spokesperson actually give a detailed analysis and breakdown of what actually transpired during the auto accident step by step.

The spokesperson said that the autopilot disengaged after about 15 seconds of both visual and auditory warnings because of the fact that the driver’s hands were not placed on the steering wheel. According to Tesla, the driver only responded 11 seconds prior to the crash by taking control of the wheel once again, steering to the left and stepping on the gas.

During the moment of the collision, the car was in manual steer mode, and the driver drifted out of the lane, collided with a barrier, overcorrected, crossed both lanes on the road, struck another median barrier and flipped his car over. Wow!

The car accident injured Albert Scaglione who had to be hospitalized. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and accident investigators said that they were in the process of collecting information to determine whether or not the car was under autopilot or not during the time of the crash. This evidence can prove vital in an accident insurance claim or personal injury lawsuit according to Titusville, PA accident lawyers.

This marks the third auto accident where it has been alleged that a Tesla car was under autopilot when the crash occurred. However, Tesla is unmoved and sticks to its theory that the car is a lot safer when autopilot is on than it is when autopilot is off.

The lawsuit stems from an auto accident on July 31st, 2014, in which the plaintiff claims she suffered severe injuries including a cervical strain and sprain.
