Former Astronaut Sued in Civil Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The estates of two girls who lost their lives in a car crash in which a former astronaut was allegedly driving under the influence have filed wrongful death lawsuits against the suspected drunk driver in Tuscaloosa County, according to timesfreepress.com.

The suspect also spoke to responding law enforcement officers and said he was on his way to his native Louisiana to pick up his son and was under the impression that he was on Interstate 20/59 and not US 82 at the time of the collision.

One of the responding law enforcement officers testified under oath that Halsell seemed extremely intoxicated and even attempted to drive away in the vehicle of a passerby who had stopped to help at the scene of the accident.
