Fatal Auto Pilot Tesla Crash: Palm Harbor Truck Driver Involved

A truck driver from Palm Harbor was operating a semitrailer when an electric Tesla sedan which was in auto pilot mode crashed into it, marking the first fatality involving a car in self driving mode, as reported by tampabay.com.

Hillsborough County, FL truck accident lawyers believe that autonomous cars need to get smarter.
The victim of the accident – the occupant of the Tesla – has been identified by local authorities as 40 year old Joshua D. Brown who hailed form Canton, Ohio. According to investigators, the camera on the self-driven Tesla failed to distinguish between the white colored part of the trailer and the brightly lit sky and drove right into the truck without activating the brakes whatsoever. Wow! That computer failed!

This will prove vital as evidence in determining liability or accident insurance claim, say Tampa, FL truck accident lawyers.

The driver of the truck and the owner of Okemah Express LLC is 62 year old Frank Baressi who testified that the driver of the Tesla was playing a Harry Potter movie on the TV screen in his car when it ploughed into the semi-trailer at such a high rate of speed that Baressi did not even see the car go through his trailer.

The movie was still playing when the occupant of the Tesla died and the car had come to a rest after striking a telephone pole a quarter mile down the road. However, Tesla Motors Inc. has denied that it is possible to watch any videos on the Model S touch screen. He could have been watching it on a separate device Tesla! Get a clue!

The accident has initiated an investigation into the Tesla Model S, its design, performance, and safety features, which Hillsborough County, FL truck accident attorneys will be closely monitoring.

The driving record of the deceased was anything but clean say authorities. Brown had acquired a staggering 8 tickets for speeding within just the previous six years. A colleague and friend of the deceased said that Brown was someone who was always up for an adventure and had an insatiable love for motorcycles and fast cars. The accident remains under investigation.

His days of fast cars are over with.
