Drew Barrymore Files for Divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court

Actress Drew Barrymore and husband of four years, Will Kopelman, have decided to call it quits. According to nydailynews.com, the papers have been filed in Manhattan Supreme Court. The couple is reportedly separating amicably with no ugly disputes likely to pop up since court documents have characterized the divorce as uncontested.
Unlike some celebrities, you should know the person you are about to marry.

Barrymore and Kopelman have 2 daughters aged 2 and 3. They were friends for a while before getting into the dating atmosphere in 2011. The 41 year old actress was married twice before where each lasted a brief period of less than a year. The couple said that the children were their first priority. That is good considering they are now caught in the middle of a divorce because one wants to live on the west coast and the other on the east coast.

They did not want to discuss this beforehand?

Leading Ontario, NY divorce lawyers point out that a couple can file for divorce citing irretrievable breakdown of their marriage without the need to cite any other grounds, which is commonly known as ‘no-fault divorce’. However, it is vital to note that at least one of the spouses must have been living in New York State for at least one year prior to filing for divorce.

Atlantic Yards Developer Ratner’s Wife Files Divorce Papers

Atlantic Yards developer Bruce Ratner is another celebrity to be heading to Manhattan Supreme Court after his wife of 8 years, Dr. Pamela Lipkin, filed for divorce. However, the 64 year old Park Avenue plastic surgeon has filed a contested divorce proceeding, which means there is likely to be a battle over assets and other issues. This is common in several high profile divorce cases say divorce attorneys in New York.

However, the couple is likely to have a tussle over a 200-acre estate in Ulster County and a 5 bedroom home in East Hampton. Another hot property is their East 78th Street town house.

Ratner reportedly owned a stake in the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, which he sold to a Russian billionaire in very late 2015. Despite being high profile citizens, the couple led a relatively quiet life on the social front. The couple wed in January 2008. Ratner was previously married to philanthropist Julie Ratner and has two daughters. Lipkin has a son from a previous marriage.

This means that since then the state allows both no-fault and fault divorce petitions a spouse can also file for a fault divorce on grounds such as cruel treatment, abandonment for one year or more, adultery, and incarceration for more than 3 years.
