Pennsylvania Law to Make Interlock Device Mandatory for even First DUI Offenders

Previously, ignition interlock devices were installed on the cars of repeat offenders only after they lost their license due to their violations. However, Governor Tom Wolf has now introduced a law which will make ignition interlock devices a compulsory for all cars of individuals even if they are convicted of a DUI for the very first time, as reported by CBS.

DUI lawyers in Allegheny County, PA are in agreement with the law. Not only does the law require that even first time drunk drivers blow into interlock devices every time in order to start their car engines, but it also allows them to retain their driving licenses. For the most part, this is integral since in modern society it is nearly impossible to manage work and family without being able to drive. Even just work! How long does it take to blow into the device as well? Not too long.

An ignition interlock device is a breathalyzer machine into which the driver will have to blow air. The machine will then analyze the blood alcohol content or BAC within the provided sample and will only allow for the car engine to stop if the BAC is lower than the legal amount in the state which is 0.08%, say Pennsylvania DUI attorneys.

Proponents of the new law include manufacturers and sellers of ignition interlock devices who say that not only is at good for their business (which we all know they are really happy about), but if it means that it will keep someone with a drinking problem off the roads, then that is a good thing for everybody. The new law is to take effect in 15 months.

Society just hopes that these devices are not ever installed on every car, even for people who have never obtained a DUI ticket.

Man Crashes into Cyclist Right Outside Court House while Driving Under the Influence

A homeless man now faces charges including that of driving under the influence after he hit a cyclist right in front of the court house while suspected being behind the wheel of his friend’s car in an inebriated state. The incident occurred right in front of Allegheny County Courthouse, according to wtae.com

The suspect has been identified by local law enforcement officers as 44 year old Scott Alderman. He was operating a car which belonged to his friend when he hit a 33 year old cyclist at the crossing between Ross Street and Forbes Avenue. He will not be homeless anymore. Hopefully Alderman did not do this to receive free room and board rather than trying to find a job – if there was a job to be found. Though this is not as bad as what Hillary Clinton did which was to operate with classified information on her home computer.

Falling a sleep while driving is a distraction.
Eye witnesses who saw the collision have even testified that Alderman literally dozed off at the wheel just moments before he hit the cyclist. The 33 year old victim, thankfully, only sustained minor injuries and was treated at UPMC Mercy.

Apart from DUI, Alderman is also facing charges for possession of heroin, paraphernalia, and also possession of small amounts of marijuana, which can lead to several penalties and jail time according to Pittsburgh, PA DUI lawyers.
