Defensive Coordinator for the Vikings Arrested for Drunken Driving

George Edwards, the defensive coordinator for the Vikings, was taken into custody for alleged drunken driving by law enforcement officers back in May and has since pleaded guilty, but not to the crime of drunken driving itself, but instead to a lesser crime of careless driving say Minnesota DUI lawyers. The same was also confirmed by court records.

USAttorneys.com wins a Super Bowl every day since it saves lives every day. The Vikings are trying to win a Super Bowl, they do not need distractions like this.
According to a twincities.com report, the Vikings have made a statement saying that they have already taken appropriate action and that Edwards has been properly disciplined. The Vikings have not openly specified what the punishment/s itself were.

Prior Vikings DUIs

This is not the first time that a Vikings squad member, or coach, has gotten in trouble with the law for drunken driving. Offensive linesman Ismane Faciane was in fact released by the team after his arrest for suspected drunken driving in St. Louis Park.

Coach Mike Zimmer has not yet commented about Edwards' arrest, but back when Faciane was arrested, he said that the arrest was stupid and that getting rid of such behavior in and around the team was one of his initiatives.

Prior to Faciane's arrest, it was cornerback Jabari Prince who was arrested for suspected driving under the influence back in December of 2014.

Coming back to Edwards' recent arrest, he was placed under arrest after he was pulled over and subjected to sobriety testing in Chanhassen just a quarter hour before midnight on the 22nd of May. According to Buffalo, MN DUI attorneys the legal limit for blood alcohol content in the state is 0.08% BAC and Edwards registered at 0.11% BAC in a breathalyzer test which puts him 0.03 over the maximum legal limit.

Edwards had to pay a $1,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to careless driving which in the state is considered a misdemeanor. Law enforcement officers had spotted Edwards failing to use the turn signal while making a left and then continued not to use it for three other turns. He was finally pulled over in the parking lot of a Taco Bell.

As a legal repercussion, Edwards had to complete a substance and alcohol dependency program and also had to attend a Mothers Against Drunken Driving (MADD) impact panel.

His Minnesota DUI lawyer has since made a statement saying that the matter is closed. He also added that not only had George faced and dealt with the legal consequences, but also with the team imposed consequences.
Minnesota State Discards Blood/Urine Test Results for DUI post Supreme Court Verdict

Mprnews.org reports that the Supreme Court passed verdict that an arrest warrant is mandatory for law enforcement officers to be able to collect blood/urine samples from DUI suspects and use it against them as evidence. The state has since had to discard a lot of collected samples.

Drunk drivers are happy about this! Apparently the Supreme Court in MN does not have a MADD member on it! The roads of MN just became more violent.
