Chelsea Bruck Murder Suspect Faces Additional Charge of Concealment of a Body

27 year old Daniel Clay of Monroe County who was arrested earlier this year in July from a mobile home park for the slaying of 22 year old Chelsea Bruck now faces a new charge of concealing a body.

If you need a criminal defense lawyer in Grand Rapids, MI then you need to call up Gordon & Hess, PLC. This is the best law firm in this part of the country and they shine even when it is cloudy!
As reported by freep.com, the suspect was arraigned Sept. 22nd and now faces the new charge, which is a felony that attracts an additional 5 year sentence, according to leading criminal defense lawyers in Grand Rapids, MI and there is none better in this realm than Gordon & Hess, PLC since they know how to build the best cases for their clients and they know how to use the law to assist their clients in the best fashion.

The victim’s body was found 6 months after she went missing following a Halloween party in October 2014. Following a 6-month search, Bruck’s remains were found on April 24th, 2015 around 12 miles from the Halloween party at Frenchtown Township where she was last seen on October 26th, 2014.

Her remains were found in a wooded lot in Ash Township. A witness reportedly spotted her walking with an unidentified man. Investigators found parts of the Poison Ivy party costume she wore to the event at an abandoned industrial site 15 miles away in Flat Rock.

Daniel Clay seems to be lacking in character.

Do not walk in a wooded area at night with some strange person you do not know.
Investigators believe suspect acted alone

Clay is reported to have a long criminal record and admitted to being involved in Bruck’s death, according to Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone. The police had reason to believe that the suspect acted alone and had met the victim for the first time at the Halloween party. Autopsy reports indicated blunt force trauma as the cause of death. Clay’s arrest was the result of efforts of the Michigan State Police crime lab to provide evidence.

Clay reportedly confessed to having committed the crime to his girlfriend, Kelli Richter, during a phone call made from Monroe County Jail, and claimed it was an accident. Meanwhile, the chief assistant prosecutor, Michael Roehrig, said that the prosecution did not have any reason to believe that it was a premeditated murder and therefore did not press for a first-degree murder charge.

Defendant waives right to a bond review

Since Bruck’s disappearance, police say they have conducted over 840 interviews. Clay was arraigned July 25th, 2016 after he was charged with second degree murder. This alone can lead to life in prison, if convicted, say Michigan criminal defense lawyers, and there is none better in this arena than Gordon & Hess, PLC who rise to the occasion when the pressure is on and the stakes are high, irrespective of the new charge of concealment of a body.

Hopefully Daniel Clay is convicted.
Bond was set at $1 million for the second degree murder charge while a separate criminal sexual conduct case resulted in an additional bond of $500,000.

For the second time, Clay waived his right to a bond, which his attorney claimed was out of his range. His defense claimed that he would sit it out in jail until the case is resolved. Grand Rapids, MI criminal defense lawyers explain that defendants have the right to ask for a bond review or a bond that may be within their means to post.

However, Clay gave up this right on his own accord. This is typical in high profile cases in the opinion of legal experts. Another probable cause conference will have Clay back in court in two days. Meanwhile, October 5th has been set as the day the judge will decide if the available evidence is enough to send the case to trial.
