The truck operated by 74 year old Richard C. Sears who hails from Glen Falls. He was transported by medical emergency technicians who responded to the call to a Glen Falls hospital after the accident for treatment. The accident occurred between exits 23 and 24.

According to a report filed by law enforcement officers, the driver was operating a company truck and was travelling in a southerly direction when the front passenger side tire suddenly ruptured causing the blow out and the consequential loss of control.
