Sherriff Louis Ackal of Iberia Parish Pleads not Guilty to Unlawful Inmate Beatings

New criminal charges brought against Iberia Parish Sherriff Louis Ackal allege that he unlawfully beat inmates or ordered the beatings of inmates at the parish jail where there are no surveillance cameras to monitor what was going on. Sherriff Louis Ackal must believe this is Russia or Cuba or perhaps Shawshank Redemption.

Lafayette, LA criminal defense lawyers know that sometimes the system makes a mistake too.
As reported by theadvocate.com, the defendants in the case are Sherriff Louis Ackal and his chief of staff Gerald Savoy. The alleged beatings occurred in 2011.

Ackal made his appearance in front of US Magistrate Judge Patrick Hanna dressed in his uniform and was accompanied by one of his three criminal defense lawyers who entered the not guilty plea on behalf of Ackal.

Lafayette, LA criminal defense lawyers following the case say that the judge assured that there would not be any favoritism or bias in the case by saying that even though the defendants are former employees of the US Western District Court of Louisiana that it would not influence the case or the eventual verdict in anyway.

Third and Fourth Suspect Nabbed and Booked into Custody in Cane’s Murder, Robbery Case

As reported by wwltv.com and here as well, in the armed robbery and stabbing of a Raising Cane’s employee in Kenner, LA, a third suspect was taken into custody on Friday morning and a fourth suspect was booked later that same afternoon by Kenner Police.

The fourth suspect has been identified as 22 year old Ariana Runner who is charged with second degree murder, conspiring armed robbery, three counts of armed robbery, and aggravated burglary, which is appropriate considering the circumstances of the case, say criminal defense attorneys in Louisiana.

Even though Runner was not one of the occupants inside the vehicle used for the armed robbery, she was allegedly active in recruiting other members who eventually perpetuated the crimes and the murder.

A fifth suspect, a female who was one of the occupants in the vehicle, is yet to be identified and Kenner Police are currently working on the same. All these can play a vital role in
The series of arrests was initiated by that of 18 year old Gregory Donald who was pulled over while driving a car that matched the description of the vehicle used in the crime.

Kenner Police then got Donald to confess that he was driving the same car on the day that the crimes were committed. Donald also further provided information and evidence that he was recruited by a female accomplice to be part of what they termed ‘a lick’ in which he participated in both the actions and the planning prior to the execution of the actual crime.

Donald was said to be armed with a box cutter and another suspect, 23 year old Joshua Every was armed with a knife which he used to stab the female employee. Donald also stated that Every came back to the vehicle and had said that the thought that Every killed the girl. Lafayette, LA criminal defense lawyers have their hands full with this case.
