Court records indicate that attorney Othman Atta, who first denied having had a relationship with a client during her divorce proceedings in 2010, later admitted to it. The Supreme Court ordered him to pay around $9,200 in court costs and also publicly reprimanded the legal representative in a 5-2 decision. Atta, who has had a license to practice law in Wisconsin since 1994, pleaded no contest to 8 counts of misconduct. He has no prior record of any disciplinary action against him. Two justices dissented, citing that a public reprimand was too lenient a punishment.
