Boating Accidents in Maryland Claim Three Lives Over the Weekend

As many as five people have lost their life or are presumed dead in separate boating accident in the State of Maryland this year. Of these, three people drowned over the weekend in separate incidents. Earlier in January, two duck hunters drowned on the Severn River.

As reported by baltimoresun.com, 62 year old Brunswick resident Lawrence Walter Grey Jr. and 51 year old Robert Evonne Lee of Fredrick, were on the Virginia side of the US 15 bridge in their 14-foot boat when it capsized. Baltimore, MD accident attorneys are disturbed by this news report. Brunswick Police who immediately swung into action along with Natural Resources Police and Maryland State Police did not manage to find the bodies even after the search resumed on Monday.

47 year old Edgewater resident, Joseph Vincent Rossi, was the other boating casualty in Anne Arundel County. He was out on a 25-foot rented boat on Chesapeake Bay with his family when strong winds blew his hat into the water. Rossi jumped into the water to retrieve his hat but did not put the boat in neutral. Since his wife did not have any boating experience she was unable to stop the boat from moving away. Wow! All you have to do is pull down on one lever and turn the steering wheel to turn around.

The police cannot save everyone.
Two good Samaritans later stopped the boat but were not successful in pulling Rossi out of the water.
