Man Attempts Hammer Attack on Wife after Discussion about Divorce Proceedings

Hammers are not meant to be used on your wife!

Things certainly do not seem easy for any couple contemplating divorce, and a man in Wisconsin seemed to take it particularly bad. 34-year-old Randy J. Frye was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide after he allegedly struck his estranged wife multiple times with a hammer at her home.

Do not embarrass yourself when getting a divorce.
Now they are getting a divorce and he gets to go jail. Not too bright Randy J. Frye! Dane County divorce lawyers believe this is what you call a mental meltdown by someone who probably should not have been married in the first place.

This is why you need a gun in the home. Another reason for that!

According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, Frye attacked his wife, following which he cut his own throat and told police to let him die. As per a criminal complaint filed in Dane County Circuit Court, Frye’s estranged wife, Jessica, woke up to find him standing in her bedroom early in the morning even though he had been staying at his parents’ home since April 23rd.

Getting a divorce is one thing, being convicted is another.
Jessica told police that they had a discussion about their divorce proceedings and child visitation. Frye tried to continue the discussion and followed her to the basement, where he first apologized and then started striking her with a hammer that he pulled out of a bag. What else was in the bag?
Jessica was saved by her sister who heard her screams and came to the rescue. If convicted, Randy Frye faces up to 65 years of combined prison time and extended supervision.

Time for a permanent time out!

On What Grounds can You File for Divorce in Wisconsin?

The state of Wisconsin is a no-fault divorce state, and there are just two legal grounds for divorce:
  1. The marriage is irretrievably broken
  2. Assertion of breakdown of marital relationship by both parties
A no-fault divorce means that a spouse does not have to prove desertion by the other, infidelity, or such other major failing to be granted a divorce. If one or both parties decide that the marriage is not working out, you can begin with filing a Summons and Petition for Divorce in court.
