Criminal Charges Filed against Lake Geneva Mother Following Child Custody Violation

Wisconsin courts take any violation of child custody agreements seriously but Michalene Melges, a Lake Geneva mother of three and real estate agent, does not seem to realize that. She makes her own rules up! Sort of like Hillary Clinton does when she is Sec. of State pertaining to her email communications.

Nothing is more precious than a child.
According to a wisn.com report, she now faces three felony counts and three misdemeanor counts for violation of a child custody agreement and contributing to truancy. She also faces one count for disorderly conduct, which are the typical charges for such a violation say divorce lawyers from Milwaukee, WI.

Following a dispute with her parents on May 9th, Melges threatened that they would never see the kids again. Some family members claim she may have acted that way due to medications – whatever! She is reported to have rented a van in Lake Bluff, Illinois the same day, which she dropped off at Plano, Texas four days later.

She and her three sons aged 10, 12, and 14 could not be traced after that. Is that not kidnapping?

The authorities were able to track them down after another Lake Geneva resident happened to spot Melges with her sons in a hotel in Savannah, Georgia, and alerted the police. Wow! She must know allot of people! Someone recognized her all the way across the country? Incredible! The three boys have been placed in protective custody while Melges was arrested.

Following her divorce, Melges was granted sole custody of the three children although her ex-husband retained visitation rights. Custody was granted on the condition that she had to notify the court as well as her ex-husband if she planned to leave passed a legal court imposed 150-mile radius.

Divorce attorneys in Wisconsin point out that this is a common condition imposed on the custodial parent in many cases. Meanwhile, an extradition hearing is likely to come up in the next few days following which Melges will be sent back to Wisconsin.

Any parent who runs off with their kids for selfish reasons is actually committing child abuse. Divorce lawyers from Milwaukee, WI do not tolerate this.
Michalene Melges does not have to worry about being a real estate agent anymore.

Wisconsin Child Custody Issues and the Courts

Milwaukee, WI divorce lawyers reiterate that there are several factors to consider when it comes to violation of a child custody agreement. To begin with, it is important for divorcing couples to be aware that Wisconsin courts expert parents to comply with custody orders. In addition, they expect parents to act reasonably and in the best interests of the children.

The courts are usually not keen to referee alleged violations which in effect may not actually harm the child. Any parent who may consider knocking at the court’s door for something minor may actually have their attempt to do so backfire.

It is critical for the parent to have a credible claim like as in the Melges case where the mother had violated 3 successive visitation schedules without informing the ex-husband. The court will always look for credible evidence and provable facts rather than mere allegations. Depending on the circumstances, the judge may in some cases change the custody arrangements if it is determined that one parent continues to be uncooperative or fails to comply with the court’s order.

If you believe your ex-partner has violated a child custody order or there are several or any issues hampering the termination of your marriage, make sure to reach out to a Wisconsin divorce lawyer. This is the best way to protect your rights and make sure you receive a fair settlement that’s best for you as well as any children involved.
