California’s Biggest Nursing Home Chain Suspected of Wrongful Death in Lawsuit

(Fresno, CA) – June 14th, 2016 – A lawsuit filed by the daughter of a late resident who lived in one of California’s largest nursing home chains claims that the nursing home was negligent and should be liable for the alleged premature death of her mother.

As reported by CBS, the lawsuit was filed by Czersale Hilton who lost her 68 year old mother, Geneva. Geneva was admitted into Centinela Skilled Nursing and Wellness Center West located in Inglewood two years ago in 2014 and only five weeks after her admission, she had passed away claims the lawsuit.

Hilton made a statement expressing both shock and grief saying that she was shocked that her mother had died, since she was healthy the last time she saw her. Hilton said she loved her mother with all her heart and that she misses her every single day. Fresno, CA nursing home abuse lawyers believe evidence plays a major role in determining liability in these types of cases and one is unfolding here.

Owner of nursing home chain well known for generous deeds

Centinela West is owned by a millionaire Los Angeles based Schlomo Rechnitz who is known for his charity work. He once distributed thousands of lottery tickets amongst his employees. In another instance, he was in a layover in Ireland when he generously handed over $50 each to 400 American soldiers so they could have lunch. That would be a fantastic lunch! That is more than the VA gives veterans – the VA seems to only give death.

If someone does not do their job in a nursing home, that could constitute abuse. The first meeting is free, you need to call up a Fresno, CA nursing home abuse lawyer.
However, in recent times, his chain of nursing homes, which consists of 81 franchises across California, has come under fire with many claims of neglect and abuse. This is a major concern according to California nursing home abuse attorneys.

According to the latest lawsuit, Geneva was admitted to Centinela West so she could receive care and recuperate after being hospitalized for chest pain. At the time of admission, Geneva’s medical condition was stable, and her lungs were clear.

Sadly after only five weeks of living in the nursing home, she had to be rushed to a hospital as she was suffering from pneumonia, dehydration, and low body temperature which was below 80 degrees. Even the doctors that attempted to revive Geneva suspected nursing home neglect claims Hilton’s legal counselor.

Nursing home abuse rates in California peak in April

As reported by pressreleaserocket.net, April of this year saw the highest number of nursing home abuse incidents throughout California. Perhaps these nursing homes are being taxed so much they are trying to cut corner. Perhaps the ACA is affecting nursing homes in a negative way like it has everything else. This is also evident from the number of cases coming to light say nursing home abuse lawyers in Fresno, CA who are concerned about the drop in quality of care.

Perhaps the higher minimum wage laws in California are damaging these businesses like they are so many others. But not taking care of patients or clients is not going to work.

We all know that nursing home residents are frail and not physically very able, and so require extra round the clock care which they do not seem to be getting even in facilities that used to be spectacular and remarkable.
