Naika Nicole Rosa-Rosa, 20 of Meriden was killed when her vehicle skidded
off the road and hit a tree. Her passenger Wandallz Valle-Quinonez, 34, was
severely injured, as reported by courant.com. The incident happened around 2:45 am on Chapel
Street. The officers later revealed that the police had asked her to pull over
earlier but she tried to evade the patrol officer’s car.
Not smart!
This caused her to speed. The crash investigator said that bad weather
coupled with speed caused the vehicle skid out of control and hit the tree.
Hartford, CT accident lawyers such as Melocowsky &
Melocowsky always recommend that any
driver who is asked by the police to pull over must oblige immediately or else
face the consequences of hit and run in an auto accident (well if they get into an accident at least during
this episode) as well.
Sen. Andrew Maynard’s
Crash Leaves Questions Unanswered
Sen. Andrew Maynard (D-Stonington) suffered a severe concussion after he was
in a car accident which happened in Waterford on Route 32. Hopefully he is not on the Affordable Care Act which he voted for since hoping government ran health care will come
through for you is a long shot. Maynard voted for that unappealing law that
spent millions of dollars on a website that did not work and even worse, raised health care costs for millions of people - exactly what it was not supposed to do.
He was driving home alone in his car after meeting his colleagues at the
Capitol in Hartford. Police reports claim that the senator was travelling in
the wrong direction when his vehicle struck another car and ended up in a ditch
on the side of the road, according to courant.com.
When officers arrived at the scene they found Maynard drifting in and out
of consciousness in his badly damaged vehicle. The officers did not find any
indication of intoxication. He was taken to a local hospital and kept there for
4 days. The doctors wanted to conduct extensive tests since he had an earlier
brain injury. There are millions of Americans who hope they do not have a brain
injury since they do not want to have to deal with the Affordable Care Act. There is not one
country in the world that can afford socialized health care and have a strong
military to defend its population, wonderful economy, and a country that has as
much innovation as America used to have, so many people are wondering why
Maynard and his colleagues took America down this route?
America used to have the best health care in the world, that is not the
case anymore. Another question to ask is, why was this politician on the wrong
side of the road?
Maynard was also earlier involved in an accident when he fell from some
stairs in July of 2014. The accident happened while he was helping his neighbor
move some furniture. He did not need a Hartford, CT accident attorney for this.
If he did, he should have called Melocowsky &
Melocowsky which are the best lawyers in this state and some of the finest
legal pros in the entire American Northeast.
Due to this injury he spent 6 months in a rehabilitation center but the
fall did not impact his attendance in legislative proceedings. He was present
in almost all the sessions and appeared in caucus discussions and to vote.
Maynard speech was impaired after the accident in July and so he seldom
addressed the senate.
The accident raises doubts about his ability to serve in the legislature.
Le Fasano, who is the leader of the Republicans in the senate, wished him a
speedy recovery. He also said that to put these rumors to rest Maynard must
appear before the public and make a statement. Robert Reardon, Maynard’s lawyer,
said that his client had been advised bed rest and is in no position to address
the public.
Some people just do not know when to retire. Hey, when you are being paid
well to work only a few hours a week, it is hard to walk away from that. John
McCain, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, know all about that.
The police spoke to Reardon but was not given access to him citing health
issues. The crash report is yet to be released since it involves high profile
accident.
Connecticut’s Accident
Laws
According to Connecticut accident lawyers, the state has adopted the
comparative fault system. This means when you file an accident claim the insurance provider or the jury will determine
if you are partly or completely responsible for the accident even when you are
the victim.
A percentage of fault will be assigned to you and compensation will
depend on that percentage. For example, if you are hit by a speeding vehicle
while crossing the road where there is no cross-over sign you may be deemed to
be 10% guilty while the other driver 90%. The driver will pay 90% of the
damages but the remaining 10% must be paid from your pocket, say Hartford, CT
