Houston Court Turns Battle Ground for High Profile Pakistani Couple

In 2010 Hira Azhar and Mohammad Ali Choudhri got married in a lavish ceremony in the US. They are American residents but also have Pakistani citizenship. After the marriage Azhar was sent back to Pakistan in 2012 on the pretext that her husband would try to get her American citizenship. However, it was a ruse as Choudhri filed for a divorce in Pakistan, which Dallas, TX divorce lawyers believe is unfair to Hira.

Azhar has hired a divorce legal representative to file a petition in the US court to get a fair share of alimony as her divorce contract in Pakistan leaves her with $50 as alimony when her husband is worth millions of dollars. However, Rusty Hardin who is Choudhri’s lawyer claims that they cannot intervene with another country’s laws and Pakistani courts must have the final say in this matter.

Did Azhar help him obtain that money though? If Choudhri made this money before they were married then what right does she have to claim any of it?

Texas Man Vindicated in Ugly Legal Spat with Ex-Partner for Seizing Daughter’s iPhone

Separations are difficult and complicated and Ronald Jackson of Texas learned this lesson the hard way. In 2013 he confiscated his daughter’s iPhone when he found some objectionable content on her phone. Within a few hours of confiscation, Michele Steppe, who is Jackson’s ex-partner and the girl’s mother, reported that the phone was stolen. The police went to Jackson’s home but he did not hand the device over to the police. He refused by saying that the police had no right to question his ability to parent his daughter.

He is right on that! This is not North Korea!

This further infuriated Steppe who took help from a legal professional to get a citation for property theft of a value less than $50. So Steppe is OK that her daughter had bizarre pictures on the cell phone?

This resulted in a Class C misdemeanor notice which was dispatched to Jackson’s doorstep. The district attorney’s office designed an offer in terms of a plea bargain which required Jackson to hand the device back to Steppe. But once again he refused and hired a legal representative asking the court for a jury trial. This caused the matter to escalate further when the city attorney modified the charges to a Class B misdemeanor which means that if convicted Jackson will have to pay a fine of $2,000 and receive jail time.

What pictures were on the phone? Does the DA not want to know this?

Jackson was arrested from his home. However, he posted $1,500 bail and luckily did not have to see the inside of a jail.

Judge Lisa Green who is the Dallas County Criminal Judge released Jackson stating lack of evidence. The conclusion of the case has confused Steppe. She claims that since the phone was her property how could someone take it from her when she has receipts that confirm her ownership.

Jackson still has his daughter’s phone with him and his lawyers are filing a federal suit claiming violation of their client’s civil rights. Jackson should probably just toss the phone away. Many people though want to know what pictures he has such a problem with?

Getting a Divorce in Texas

According to divorce attorneys in Dallas TX, to get a divorce you will have to file five suits for the dissolution of marriage, division of assets, child custody, alimony, and a suit for third party tort. The first step is to decide the ground for divorce, which is whether you want a no-fault divorce or an at-fault divorce.

In a ‘no fault’ divorce, the petitioning spouse does not have to give any grounds for the divorce. For the most part, the spouse can cite an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage. On the other hand, a ‘fault’ divorce is sought on grounds of cruelty, adultery, abandonment, and felony conviction and Dallas, TX divorce lawyers have seen this happen as well.

Divorces are complicated since several sensitive issues such as child support, alimony, and custody must be decided. Therefore, we recommend that you seek help from a divorce lawyer in Texas right away to protect your rights.

It does not matter if there is hope in your marriage. Like Skyler White did in the hit show Breaking Bad, if you think there is marriage problems then their probably is (in her case, she should have moved out and stayed out). It is better to obtain legal help and just in case things go south, you have someone to pounce on this quickly. You should call Divorce.USAttorneys. Do not do this in front of your spouse or children, if you have any, though.

Make the call. This legal digital resource center has helped many people in your situation become legally prepared just in case the worst case scenario presents itself.
